rue nodded their head a bit as they tucked their knees into their chest. “yeah, i know.” they’d done everything they could to keep themselves hidden so they wouldn’t hurt luke. they’d felt miserable for hours hiding in this smelly alleyway near the trashcans.

rue was more than thrilled when luke asked her to the concert. she knew he was big on music and while she didn’t get to have much of it back home, she wanted to be more into that world. maybe it could’ve meant something to her too. “this is a really awesome idea, luke. it’s going to be so fun seeing a live concert. i’ve never been to one before.”

that morning they woke up with everything that had happened playing in their head. it was like the nightmares they had except this time they knew for sure it was real. shivers had gone down their back as they laid in bed. they just needed to move. they needed to get out of there. katniss. they needs to find katniss. they all but ran out of their apartment building and down the hall when they crashed into someone. their small figure falling to the ground. “i’m sorry, i’m sorry.” rue said before looking at the person they ran into, jumping back away from them. “cato?”
