It’s been a whole fortnight and I’m still thinking about Queen’s Gambit.

I mean the way it just *clenches fist* portrays slavic people in a sensitive and positive light! The Colette references in the whole Cleo sequence! Neurodiverse and queer or queer-coded people as key positive influences! Navigating hyper-femininity as both a source of joy and a fuck-you performance! Explicit chosen family! Throwing off the shackles of your birth culture if you cannot thrive there!

I don't know if anyone else can relate but I'm repulsed by really masculine or feminine things. I'm not repulsed by sex or anything, so I don't know where this comes from or if I should relate this to my asexuality at all. Like, my friends show me a feminine, pretty girl and everyone seems to agree but I can't bring myself to look at her twice. Same w men, I see a post about extremely masculine man with veins, body hair and muscles and everyone talks about how hot he is but I just feel repulsed

Hyper-femininity exists...

I spent most of my teenage years denying who I really was and forcing myself to be extremely feminine, even if I really wasn’t into something, say Victoria’s Secret and cutesy stereotypical “girl things”, I would say I was. Yes, there’s still part of me which is feminine and I still pass as female most of the time (not through choice), coming out at trans was probably the best thing I ever did and although it is a slow process, I am changing. But I can’t look back on the past six or seven years without a bit of sadness because I was pretending to be someone I wasn’t. I was so obsessed with presenting myself as being oh so obviously female, that it messed with my head big time.
