i joined a random club in duolingo for french and it’s honestly motivating me more to keep my streak!! i’m really competitive so i keep doing lessons to make sure i’m always at the top of the leaderboard, it’s great 😂😂
hopefully i make some friends who speak/study french soon, because the only conversational practice i’ve had so far is with the duolingo bots lmaooooo

@ langblr community, here's the QOTD: what's that one song that made you fall in love with a certain language/your target language?
for me with Mandarin, it's this gem.
hey! I've got a couple of questions for ya! Have you come to the conversational level of SPanish, French, and German by self-teach? If so, how long did it take you to reach that level for each? I am SO interested in learning languages but I feel like it is unproductive to study more than one at once. Any advice?
For French and German yes. Now, don’t confuse self-taught for alone however. I got help from native speakers and the teachers at my school, however it was all done through my effort. It took me about a year to reach a reasonably conversational level, but that is because I’m not always 100% responsible with my time.
As for the number of languages, this is what I always say when someone asks: you know yourself. The ability to handle multiple languages completely varies person to person, due to things such as time availability, commitment, dedication, and work ethic. I know people who can study 4 or more languages simultaneously, and I know people who struggle with one. It all depends on you.
Personally, I find it better to stick to two target languages, with one having precedence. It is very easy to work on at least two languages a day, and spend a bit of time with each of them. Furthermore, when you get burnt out with one language, you can always switch to the other. This isn’t to say I don’t work on more languages, but they just aren’t my number one priority. For example, I am currently focusing on German and Swedish. However, I still spend plenty of time with French and Spanish, and then occasionally work on Catalan and Chinese.
Hope this helps!
YEEES! I even pocketed the DB section :U
