I just went to an orientation of the juvenile detention center where my new office is located. While we stood in the waiting area before touring secure detention, a TV was playing msnbc and someone, talking about Ferguson, said something about Michel Foucault and surveillance. And then we went into intake where a kid was getting finger printed. It was eerie and hypersignificant.

she spent the night & i drove her to the airport this morning. the sunrise was fuschia coral streaked with purple. we were driving south so mt. rainier was all lit up like a monument. she said "every time i've seen you, the mountain's been out. that's a good sign."

today i went on a run and coincidentally strategically ran past the restaurant where #trouble girl works and did so while listening to hop along's tibetan pop stars, and i passed the restaurant right on cue to "i'm gonna be creepin on you so hard" and then later as i was running uphill in a spring downpour "running up that hill" came on and it was all hypersignificant like my ipod could sense my soundtrack needs. i came home and talked to my mom on the phone who said at one point in our conversation, "i just want to make sure you know, you shouldn't hang out with people who don't see how amazing you are" which was sort of out of the blue but also seemed like she somehow knew i was creeping just hours ago. it was weird and funny and beautiful. i didn't tell her, but today i also made plans to hang out with the doctor/resident i met at the conference and i'm really excited about it.

i received a tarot deck from a friend as a birthday present so i now own three different decks.

i had my tarot read for my birthday and pulled a pair of twos, a pair of threes, a pair of sixes, and a pair of nines, the sun, and justice. the woman reading my tarot emphasized balance and duality, saying "there is lots of creation and destruction here." she also said "you have difficulty connecting to joy," & be open to people but trust your instincts, & don't care so much about "winning" whatever winning means, & things are changing so appreciate what is here before it goes.

it felt very hypersignificant.
