Hypnovember 23: Prompt 8 "PLAY"
After Prompt #7's suggestive-ness-fest, and the fact I've not had much time after work other than to make entries to hypnovember... I feel I am entitled to have a small break. (That and Risk of Rain Returns drops, so... I want some time to play that! :P) So cue a slightly wholesome yet jokey take on the theme "Play". I'm sure we'll resume the more innuendo-y affairs this week. :P
The King and the Princess: Coming Home
The humid air clung to her skin like fresh dew in the morning light. Birds sang all around, while insects and arachnids buzzed, crawled or spun about their business. Occasionally, a low growl would be heard as the young woman made her way; but never once did a creature cross her way to hinder her.
It was a welcome change to the bustle of the village….
Sarah sighed as she brushed her dark hair from her face, violet eyes downcast. She cursed herself for having these thoughts… True, it was not the life she was used to. It was not the life she wanted, either; toil and effort were necessary in all things, but the constant bantering of merchants, or the commands of harsh mistresses was enough to drive anyone mad. And the need to sell to accumulate “that which will sustain you..”
Are we no longer capable of taking only what we need? Sarah thought. This world provides so much, and yet always there is this desire for more, more, more! Surely we take too much to satisfy the “necessities”
One of many thoughts that troubled the poor girl's mind this day. Others were far more personal, but she dare not think on them now… best to wait until she found her quiet place. To ponder.
To ask.
Steeling herself, Sarah held her head high once more and pressed on. It was still early in the day; no one would miss her until midday. Still, she felt it urgent to get there as soon as she could, if only to take the time she truly desired.
Too long of a time later, she pressed through a narrow pass between two trees, almost hidden to the naked eye. On the other side was a small clearing, bathed in the light of the sun, Multitudes of flowers dotted the small patch of earth, glowing in their natural radiance. Round this, giants stood, towering over Sarah with their mighty, vine covered limbs.
A soft sigh escape the young maiden. No matter how many times she came to this place, it's beauty still took her breath away. Taking a step into to clearing, the warmth of the sun thrilled her, as if pouring new life into her very soul. A gentle breeze rustled her hair and pulled ever so lightly at the fabric of her Salwar, begging her to be free as it was. And the light… she could practically feel every drop of sunlight coating her golden skin, bringing out her spirit for all the world to see.
She was here. And it was perfect.
Almost.
Sarah sighed as she came down from her bliss, casting her eyes round about the clearing, even to the trees above. Try as she might, her eyes could not see him. And even in their natural element, he still eluded her, as he always did.
He prefered it that way. His own way of testing her, to see how much she remembered from her life before the village. Her life with him, and those they called family. She had promised, the day she left, that she would remember all he had taught her, and would prove it when an returned.
His words were thus: “Do so, little sister. And I will always teach you more.”
I am here now, thought she. Teach me.
Drawing her skirt round her legs, Sarah knelt upon the ground in the midst of the clearing, as she had done so many times before. As before she folded her hands and laid them in her lap; as before, she closed her eyes and bowed her head; as before, she started her breath and calmed her heart.
And as before, all she heard was the birds. All she heard were the need. All she heard was the wind.
Eternity feels like a lifetime when one is at peace. So it was for Sarah; every second a minute, every minute an hour. But still she knelt, and waited.
She didn't notice the birds quiet. Did not hear the busy bee racing away. Did not hear the gentle creak of the trees as an ancient, powerful weight returned to their limbs. Could not know as an old, aged eye set it's sight upon her as it drew closer. Cannot tell the working of a mind as old as the jungle itself.
All she could feel was peace.
A soft, powerful hiss finally penetrated the barrier of acuity Sarah had formed in her mind's eye. Her skin tingles, goosebumps rising at the intrusive noise. Her breath catches her heart fluttering…
“Angana.”
Sarah opened her eyes, and gazed out upon her spectator. The great, sinuous form of muscle entombed in flesh and scale, head lowering from the trees. Bright eyes gazed out into her own, their souls bridged by nothing more than sight. Another hiss echoed through her haven, as the serpent drew over closer…
A soft smile grew upon the maiden's countenance. Now, it was perfect.
“Raaja.”
When Guardian Cobra Rhea sees that her friend Kieri is tired, she insists on helping out! What could be more effective than an all-encompassing massage bed in heavy coils and a generous dose of hypnosis?🐍💕 In fact, it might be a bit *too* effective...
I like my spicy stuff with a healthy dose of levity :3 Kieri can still kick major butt if she wants to, and Rhea knows it.
