Would any of the Haiquile boys get along/like their real world counterpart? I keep thinking of Atsumu and tsumu meeting and tsumu being like “so YOU are why she won’t call me my nickname, scrub”
'Tsumu sized up the strange being standing across from him, arms crossed and eyes narrowed calculatingly.
Gleaming honey eyes that were strikingly similar to his own squinted back at him in turn, condescension and derision clear in their bright irises.
"So yer the reason why she won't call me 'Tsumu anymore," the golden-haired volleyball player hissed, disliking the way his opponent did the same.
"Watch yer tongue, human," Atsumu snarled at the human male that dared to speak to him in such a manner, his fox ears twitching angrily on the top of his head. He could easily rip this haughty human apart. "I don't see what she sees in ya'."
'Tsumu gritted his teeth, wishing that he had a volleyball in hand that he could use to spike this creature's face in.
"I guess those fox traits are just for show, cause this 'human' here has better eyes than ya'!"
"Ya' humans are all disgustin' lookin' but yer the worst I've seen."
"Hah? Have ya' looked in the mirror?!"
"I don't need to since I'm lookin' at ya'!!"
As the two golden-haired twins bickered violently between themselves, their grey-haired counterparts stood off to the side, quietly watching their brothers quarrel amongst themselves.
"Are they both idiots? What scrubs," 'Samu muttered as he watched 'Tsumu argue with Atsumu, disappointment in his eyes.
"Don't they realize they look exactly the same? Bloody stupid," Osamu shook his head with shame, unable to believe he has to call such an idiot his brother. His fox ears laid flat against his head in dismay.
There was a brief silence that stretched between them as 'Samu and Osamu glanced at each other.
…
"Ya' want to switch?" Osamu asked the volleyball player.
"Ya' mean 'Tsumu for you and vice versa, right?"
"What else?"
With a nod, they fist bumped each other to seal the deal and promptly walked off, leaving the other pair of Miya twins behind.
"What should we do to celebrate this occasion?" 'Samu asked his new twin.
"I really liked the food from yer world that (Y/N) made for us." The thought of food instantly perked his fox ears back up.
"Oh, that's a good idea. I'll tell her to meet us and we can celebrate together."
"Yer so much better than that idiot."
"Likewise. We should have done this earlier."
"Hey wait, where do ya' think yer goin' with that scrub, 'Samu?!"
"Oi, come back here or I'll really burn all ya' shit at home!"
___________
Heh, I think certain pairs will definitely get along! (Kita and Osamu especially) . Others might have a rivalry ( Atsumu, Oikawa but might be a one-sided rivalry from Oikawa the setter's side cause Prince Oikawa is 👌lmao)
Kuroo, Ushijima, Suna would be interested in their respective counterparts and keen to learn about their differences/similarities. But would they dial each other up to go for a bowl of ramen or practice magic/swordsmanship together? Possibly, but only one side from each pair will likely ask; if neither side asks in which case they'll unfortunately never hang together.
Bokuto will just annoy Scary Bokuto a lot who doesn't understand how this is his alternate.
TA-DAH! A map of Hyquile from my Haikyuu story Ghosts We See.
It’s a very simple map made with a trial version of a map-making software called Inkarnate; @katbshop gave me the idea to use a software to make the map, and I went abt looking for a somewhat free version...I would have liked to make a larger map but they only gave me this much space to work with lmao.
Can’t even show the FULL scale of Hyquile 😅 Like, just imagine the distances shown here to be SEVERAL TIMES MORE!
I would like to be able to update this map as the story progresses but the trial ends in a few weeks and I can’t afford to subscribe to it 😭 At least we will have this basic one of the existing realms 😌
Edit: Do you guys see how BARE Inarizaki House is though? XXD
A basic take/design of Hyquile Atsumu’s outfit in [Ghosts We See]! It’s changed a bit from when I first wrote him, and I definitely have more detailed leg guards/arm guards in mind but this will hopefully be enough to give you an idea of his clothes.
If I ever redo this, it will probably change again as I see now a lot of things that are different from the original description I imagined.
Osamu’s can be found here: https://renesis-jj.tumblr.com/post/625407101951459328/hyquile-osamus-basic-design-i-used-their
Atsumu can be found here: https://renesis-jj.tumblr.com/post/625264788565573633/a-basic-takedesign-of-hyquile-atsumus-outfit-in
I used their official character profile art as the reference since I thought it would be fun to have them imitate their volleyball character profiles for a parallel, and if I make Hyquile profiles for them in the future, I can maybe even line it up together! Hah.
This definitely changed even further from when I first introduced the twins into Ghosts We See, and removed the leg guards from Atsumu’s design that was originally supposed to be on both of them. I quite like this one.
I need to find the time to properly shade/color them x.x
Edit: lmao spotted a mistake on his clothes at 3am. Will fix when I color.
Lineart/WIP of Hyquile’s Sentimental Ushijima! Decided to draw him since we are currently in the Shiratorizawa Chapters of the Introduction Arc.
If there is interest to color this, I will provide a clean version without the lightning but for now, this is what I am currently working on. I have a tendency to only finalize details during the coloring stages but I added the eagle emblem on already haha ….not even sure if you can see it *squint*
does hyquile have their own constellation of stars or does it match the world where MC is originally from/our world?
hmm I thought about this before but then I stopped thinking about it as my brain was starting to hurt-
Until I can further build it, for now I would say Hyquile has their own constellation of stars since the world IS an alternate/different world apart from Earth, so even if there are similarities, there are still existing core difference. Very much like the boys :)
(this makes me want to think up of all the constellations and stars for Hyquile now ahahah)
as i promised i drew Alt!Bokuto’s first appearance! this time on paper! it hard to pick which scene i wanted to draw next, but this just came to me in the middle of my class and i just had to draw it!
(Mau, I hope you don’t mind me placing the image here so people can see it and not pass on such wonderful art! Let me know if you prefer I take off the image!)
Oh my GOD! Mau, thank you SO MUCH! Really! I was grinning like a mad fool when I saw this! I absolutely LOVE IT!! My heart wont survive all this wonderful love and art you’ve been showing onto me T__T
You really captured Hyquile Bokuto’s predatory essence with this angle and expression! Nggghh, the angle especially!! I love, love, love the use of it and it really snaps the whole hunter/prey theme for this chapter!! AND BOKUTO’s in the shadows in the top left!! Ahaha I LOVE IT!
Oh, and everyone, instead of liking this post, PLEASE like the original post on twitter instead! Mau deserves it all and more <333
WOooOO here comes the world building question!!; When comparing the different realms in Hyquille, how do the cultures differ? (I think you've done a fabulous job explaining atmospheric & broader historic differences, this Q is more about the small little details!) For ex., Do they have specific mannerisms or ways of talking? Do they have different languages, currency(bartering, trade, actual money), social classes? What are staple foods? I could go on and on x3 I love little details! ---(1/2)---
This would not be the first time where I lamented not having enough energy/time to write out everything in more detail (like, there’s already so much details LMAO and it still isn’t enough). There is definitely a lot of minor details/lore that I thought of but couldn’t fit into the story without boring everyone or breaking my fingers and another keyboard 😂 If there was something that can accurately type out the words I say, I would definitely use it to help me write GWS and maybe I can even produce more content then.
Gonna place a Keep Reading to save your fingers cause this is LONG ☠️ Only for the truly invested in Ghosts We See, I think. Though it would help everyone understand the world more HAHA
Language
Obviously, Inarizaki kept their dialect as shown by the twins. HONESTLY, I should be applying it to Kita and everyone else from Inarizaki (cept’ Suna) but I am horrible at doing that dialect speech writing, so I narrowed it to the twins only. Maybe I’ll put more effort into giving that dialect to Kita as well at least...Now I want to go back to all chapters with the foxes and fix their dialect haha
But with that, yes, there is a dialect in the West, and I like to headcanon that in the larger West as a whole. Language is the common tongue with regional differences, and of course, more obscure “languages”/modes of communication also exist, particularly amongst the non-humans.
Ie: On top of the common tongue, Akaashi has displayed the capability to communicate with Mori and understand Mori’s hoots and calls. This implies that Bokuto/Owl-folks have this skill as a whole.
Currency
YES! Currency exists, which is how Bokuto paid MC’s way out of that skedaddle she butted into at Cat Alley between Osamu and the store owner. Also Akaashi paying Rosco for MC’s room and board. And then MC paying with money she got from Kenma for the fish skewers, which is technically Kuroo’s money (lmao she just spending everyone’s money)
Bartering/Trade
Exists! This was mentioned in ONE LINE in the Inarizaki chapters, where Suna mentioned they traded their rice for either money or bartered for other resources. Sadly, the foxes’ coffers are a bit more empty compared to other realms because of the genocide and constant fighting in the West, so priority has always been given to things needed for survival or what they don’t produce like clothes, metal, oil etc. The foxes have a shit ton of rice and fish in their rivers now so they aren’t pressed for food unlike a decade ago, but not so much of everything else so they rely on trade/bartering. I headcanon that although they are surrounded by forests, they trade for wood some times too as they prefer to keep their forestry (gives additional shelter and protection to their village) and whatever wood they do produce are taken from trees further off from their territory😅 sneaky bastards.
Nekoma Dominion and Owl Vale trades too, as mentioned briefly in C4. Also implied between Kuroo’s and Bokuto’s conversation. The Dominion also trades with other cities including human cities, despite tension between races due to the old war (C5). Trade also obviously happens in the North, especially between all the nations/states/kingdoms in The Empire, including Aoba.
Social Classes
Exists to an extent, especially in the human realms. It wasn’t expanded on much in the fic but it has always been mentioned/implied that there is royalty, nobilities and then the common-folk. In The Empire, it is heavily implied/mentioned that non-human folks are the bottom rung of the classes, that they even have a slum in the harbors of Aquila (C20). I headcanon that these “slums” or areas/districts where non-human folks in the North gather also exist in other parts of The Empire.
Food!
Oh god, ngl, I had a few times where I just wanted to write a chapter for each realm dedicated to their foods. But alas, I can only quickly mention what they commonly eat/what MC sees them eat. Maybe when things calm down plot-wise, more can be focused on this plus other cultural aspects but no promises haha my fingers and back are ⚰️ 💀 ⚰️ 💀
Rice is obvious for Inarizaki, and this was quickly reinforced when Suna served MC soup with rice, and then her making rice balls in Inarizaki. On top of that, they fish from the rivers that run in their territory, fish populations promoted with the magical properties of their waterfall. Hunting is also common in Inarizaki, and was the main source of sustenance in the times following the genocide.
Fish is another obvious one for Nekoma Dominion, and is mentioned a few times. Also, she bought fish skewers haha With their lush greenery in the mountains too, herbs, mushrooms and other such veggies are also part of their food. Vegetable foods were mentioned several times in the Nekoma chapters. The cats eat a lot of fish and veggies, healthy and lots of docosahexaenoic acid 😆
Aoba! During the convo with Iwaizumi in Seijoh, MC mentioned that there were lots of salads, fruits and basically veggie-based foods being served. Mainly because of the nature magic of majority of their population that almost everyone can grow their own healthy vegetable garden. Doesn’t mean that Aoba is a vegetarian realm or anything, as meats/fish etc exist too! And because of their capability to magically enforce the growth of any plant, bread is definitely one of their staples.
Shiratorizawa! The White Eagle Empire is huge and consists of a lot of different places like Wakutani, Date, Kakugawa and even Aoba, so the types of food they eat differs from place to place. But in Aquila, the main capital, they serve all sorts of foods from the different territories in The Empire, having accumulated and assimilated it as part of their food culture, plus having easy trade within Empire territory itself.
Architecture
Not asked but I mentioned this to another commenter somewhere (I cant remember where and who anymore because there has been so many T_T) but to briefly elaborate if it wasn’t clear enough yet, especially for less obvious ones.
Inarizaki is obviously Japan inspired, Nekoma Dominion is China, Aoba follows the stereotypical medieval high-fantasy design (think Gondor for Seijoh, stylistically and not geography because Seijoh is not built against a mountain/in a quarry), and Shiratorizawa is a MIX of the different places they have assimilated into The Empire. I have not been able to expand much on it in the fic yet, but I headcanon in GWS and also implied by MC in C20 that Aquila took on different architectural designs, like domes and woodwork from Aoba. MC doesn’t know all of this, but I am the author so I do but the metalwork in the city is from Date, the harbor + ships/naval-work is from Kakugawa, spires/tower/arches architecture is from Wakutani. Will I mention more Empire realms? Possibly, I don’t know yet :p
Gosh, I love these Asks, if ya’ll can’t tell. If any of you read all of that and enjoyed it, THANK YOU!! <333
