Honestly the best route is to just talk to him. For me I’ve always gotten to know a person before dating them and am friends first. Go up to him and ask how his weekend was or if he has plans for the weekend, that will tell you quite about him. Also if he wants to keep a distance or is more open. It’s pretty good to play the waiting game until you are done too because then there is less of that uneven dynamic and less pressure on him too. So befriend him first, especially because many times the persona people put on at work is very different from the one when they are just being themselves and relaxing.
