Hey hey! St. Mayanaise, am I woke now???
The scent of a hearty scramble was the first thing that reached Harryâs nose in the morning. Bacon? And was that the sweet scent of caramelized onions? Just a few more moments, he tried to rationalize, it was the weekend after all and five more minutes of just laying in the warm bed with the quilt snugly against him wouldnât hurt. Harry glanced over to where Severus usually slept, even with blurry vision he could tell the other had already made his side of the bed. No doubt he could have stayed in bed another hour or so, if his belly didnât rumble louder now that he was more awake to appreciate the breakfast that Severus was cooking downstairs and with a resigned sigh, Harry reached over to the night stand to feel for his circular glasses.
âAl! Daddy is awake!!â Harry soon heard from the doorway with his glasses on he was able to see the small toddler peeking from the slightly ajar door, just a set of bright green eyes gazing up at him on the bed.
âI told you to let him sleep, Dahlia,â this voice from the kitchen he quickly recognized as Severus.
âHe was already awaaaake,â came the response, though before she could open the door, she was pushed out of the way by a large brown and white blur of a dog that soon hopped up on the bed and started to excitedly lick at Harryâs cheek. Before he could even begin to recover from that assault of kisses, he felt two smaller arms wrap around him.
âDad said we couldnât wake you up because, because the Ministry doesnât know how toâŠ. treat itâs workers like people. He said they work you like dogs, but dogs donât work and so I was just checking if you were awake yet,â Dahlia buried her head more into his pjs as Harry hugged her tighter.
âItâs just an expression,â there was a bit of a gap of ages between Albus and Dahlia, but out of the four siblings, he always seemed to watch out for her the most and he soon took a seat on the bed next to them, âI think Dad was getting impatient though and he made your favourite since Dahlia wonât stop going on how you promised to show her a muggle dog park todayâŠâ
âThe dog better not be on the bed,â Severus added from the kitchen, Harry took that as his cue that now was as good a time as any to get up. With his daughter still in his arms, her legs around him for added support, he made his way to the kitchen.
Severus was busy at the stove, the plates were already making their way from the cupboards to the dinning table as if guided by invisible strings. The ebony black wand in Severusâs hand pointed over his shoulder to show that this was his doing.
âMorning,â Harry now leaning over to press a kiss against Severusâs cheek.
âAnother hour and it would have been the afternoon. I do have some jar organization that I wished to accomplish while you take them to the dog park,â was the response he was greeted with, but Harry knew that part of the scold was concern from working the long hours at the Aurorâs office.
Harry pulled the nearest chair from the table to take a seat. The chair felt much heavier than he remembered it and the pair of eyes that greeted him showed that there was already a tabby cat who had already made it the perfect nap spot curled up on the cushion. He would have let the cat be if it wasnât for the fact that the other five chairs would be used up as well and with a gentle push he encouraged her to find a new spot to lay.
Despite the fact that he had just woken up, Harry found himself happily staring as he watched Severus cook. It had been potions that he that he had taught many years ago, but his wand work was as sharp as his brewing skills and still impressed Harry with how he seamlessly orchestrated the various domestic spells. Then again with four children in the house, that sort of efficiency was probably how any form of sanity was ever kept.
"Go get your brothers, Dahlia,â Harry softly said to the six year old, the only girl in the household and the little princess of it all. She slid off his lap and ran outside with Al doing his best to keep up behind her leaving just Harry and Severus alone.
Harry took advantage of this quick quiet moment to wrap his arms around Severus from behind, âThank you for that extra hour, love,â Harry said against the otherâs shoulder, giving it a soft kiss. Severus was never keen on being interrupted while he was in the middle of a task, but to his surprise Severus pressed back against him and then turned around completely to return the embrace.
âWhen will you be able to take a proper vacation? Surely the Golden Boy Potter has earned at least a week off soon.â
âNext month, even if I have to Polyjuice Ron to take my spot for a few days.â
âLet us try not to resort to that, we all know who would end up having to brew that.â
âHermione?â Harry replied with a grin, which just earned him a scowl. It was never hard to take soften his scowl and Harry leaned to press his lips against Severusâs who met the kiss more readily than he expected. Harry was so very glad that it was the weekend and that he could spend time where he was wanted most.
