I am petty so here's toh meta about ages.

Redoing my Caleb + Philip age math bc it's fun for me for some reason and also I am deeply bothered by how fanon makes Caleb significantly older than he is and makes Philip younger than he is. But . anyway. I think baby Caleb appearance places him around 11-12ish. He looks like the same age as Gus in my opinion. Gus is a very small kid so Caleb could be younger, but honestly I think he's 12 here.

Philip is around nine or ten. You can compare his height and proportions to Collector and Gus as well. He's the same size as Collector, with similar facial proportions. Age is weird in TOH bc the art style kinda fails in that regard, so I just have to compare the characters to each other. However, I think that's a fair guess.

Another thing that's pretty notable is that Caleb doesn't look as big as Hunter yet in his teenager images, he's actually probably 14-15. He could be 16, altho honestly I think he's Luz's age. That places Philip as around 12 here, which makes sense when you compare him to 12 year old Caleb and 12 year old Gus.

This is where we get out Caleb-less time gap, but Caleb becomes an adult at some point. He's an adult in Gravesfield and Philip is probably 18-19 in the artwork of the statues and newspaper/book.

In late May, Philip sets out after Caleb. At this point, the Titan's Blood is becoming rare, and Philip needs a way to "save" Caleb and bring him home. Philip is aware of the Door, which was likely designed by Evelyn and Caleb based on the art style and location (it's attached to Caleb's house, it's wooden and detailed which makes it obvious it was a wood carver and not Philip. Dana confirmed the eye in the door is Papa's. Philip has the schematics which he probably stole? from Caleb and Evelyn when he probably also stole Caleb's body- given that Evelyn has Caleb's body before Philip gets it).

This is also when he discovers most of the glyphs and he is already consuming Palismen and has a monster form when he returns to Caleb, so. Given that it's been around fiveish years, Caleb is probably around 25-26 and Philip is around 23-24. They probably only have a 2-4 year age gap. When Philip meets Luz, he's aged a bit but it's actually only been a few years. He's been in the Isles for over five years, he's already making grimwalkers (altho unsuccessful). Evelyn probably is hiding out with her baby around the time Luz shows up. He's actually like. 25-27ish, maybe 30?? when Luz meets him in E and E.

Final evidence. Caleb is probably younger than Camila and around the same age as Steve. Caleb. doesn't look . very healthy. but in the images we do have of him as an adult, he's probably in his mid 20s? It's very hard to tell with this art style but comparing him to Steve, who has a similar body type, I think it's pretty safe to say he's in his mid-twenties.

I think Philip's aging slowed around 30ish but he comes off to most people as a grandparent so he's probably around 60ish in appearance in 2022. Also. Steve is adorable. anyways.

All this to say that Philip was obviously way too old to be acting like this which we all already knew but also Caleb's "selfishness" to go move in with Evelyn is really. not that big of a deal. actually. and maybe we need to be more chill about a young adult who's like two to four years older than their sibling moving out. :P

okay to the last nonnie you just answered, I understand the level of curiosity and i understand these immoral/taboo topics are not for everyone. but when you clarify things like ‘it’s fiction, but I would not do these irl’ i would hope you wouldn’t!! hell, I would hope anyone wouldn’t in reality. but fiction is NOT reality. I would hope anyone who reads and engages with this content is an adult. and as an adult, you can only be responsible for yourself.

if you are an adult, I would expect you to engage responsibly with the fiction that you are consuming. and not let these things change the way you think or view something because again, fake, imaginary scenarios!

i also wanted to talk about the perv male reader x non con lil sister being compared to ai edited nudes. I do not think they are comparable topics at all by any means. the first is probably a fictional story that harms no real life person and the second is more likely.. someone’s edited nudes and that’s disgusting and vile because it involves real people. that is where I would draw the line and condemn it because I care about living, breathing humans who inhabit the same earth as I do. Not fake, fictional victims that doesn’t exist outside of yours or someone’s imagination. not to mention how much i hate generative ai 😭

I think my main concern with all this is the growing intensity and tenacity at which readers assume things about author’s real personal life based on the fictional stories they write. ‘why do you write it? why do you enjoy it?’ i get where you can be curious but also, that’s someone’s personal history and life and they may not want to share all their trauma or past out publicly to strangers online. esp behind anonymity.

I think as a community, it would all do us smth good to just enjoy the silly little stories as they are and not assume or want to know more about what the creator of those stories do or live their life in reality. we don’t all know each other, and it’s better to stay this way. fandom talk is fandom talk ! it’s ofc a different case if you become friends and grow close over time, and someone willingly on their own shares why they write the things they do. then, that’s that.

at the end of the day, writers esp fan fiction writers more often than not, write for themselves. the stories are something that is shared with you. not made for you.

I think you mentioned you scroll past content you don’t enjoy or feel uncomfortable by, and it’s a good thing. I do too! I’m not saying you can’t feel uncomfortable by seeing certain media. you absolutely can and do. those are your feelings, your emotions, your reactions, and they’re totally valid.

i am only asking that you acknowledge that this is the internet. taboo and dark and icky things we don’t want to see will always be there. which brings me back to my main point where you become a responsible adult and block and filter out content that may trigger or upset you.

I encourage nonnie, and everyoneeee to curate their own spaces and build a safe sanctuary where you can enjoy the things you do, and allow space for other people to do the same in their own little spaces and corners of the internet.

you are not owed an online experience free of discomfort. it is up to you once more, to realize that and not harass or make others feel bad for enjoying the things they do, esp pertaining to any type of fiction. #unlearnshame2025
