Because I don't like it and haven't drawn it it so many times I can easily doodle it without reference #Actually had to open my earlier tries at making his hair more detailed as a practice (I don't think I've posted them)#And search for a reference of a hand holding the screwdriver which was somewhat helpful #Do I know why he's doing the stuff? Nah. I literally gave him that in the first place because I don't #I don't think he actually has some kind of “idle” state as well most of the guys usually get one based on the original #Yet here's the problem that the original only ever did some story-tied idles otherwise he's as dead as a doll on a shelf #At least stance wise. Which is something I can't use despite one of his versions always having one pose #And I can't just give him a panel of orange text as a nod to the other thing #So I did the reasonable thing - added couple of bunnies and gave him a something to work with #Considering Tomura's idle is just constantly playing a handheld and Otto's involves knitting or doing something like that #It's only fair to give yet another helpful action

Continuing my seasonal hobbit illustrations with a redemption arc for my spring Sam icon from last year! I think I definitely made this one look and feel more spring-like than my previous attempt, and I'm especially happy with how the colors and tulips turned out since that's something I wanted to experiment more with this year

I'm going to try and make this a series of seasonal illustrations similar to how I did that but in icon form last year; I was actually inspired by my accidental winter Frodo illustration to continue making seasonal hobbits, but in illustration form, and after finishing this one up I can see it being something I do for the remaining hobbits for the rest of the year!

#lord of the rings #lotr #lotr fanart #samwise gamgee #sam gamgee #hey dol arting dol #This one was sitting on the backburner since March if you can believe it #I was working on this one on and off throughout April because I wanted it to be in time for Sam's birthday but I missed it #It's okay though; better late than never!!#I'm just so happy with the colors and the tulips; I was really scared of drawing tulips since I've never done it before but they came out #way better than I thought they would; and again the colors are way more spring-like this time around than last time #It helps that I had a lot of my own pictures to use as a reference for spring colors this time around #I also didn't have a specific place in mind for where Sam's watering tulips at so you can either imagine it being at a random #hobbit hole or maybe it's at Bag End again; I just had a need to draw him gardening again and looking a little handsome while doing it
