365 Creatures: Week 15!
This week very nearly broke me. Granted, part of it was cramps, but part of it was the Pandoran creatures of the week. I almost missed a post. I posted the preview late. It was a whole thing... but so worth it, I think this is my favorite week in Alien April.
99. Unicorn
I've drawn some unicorns before, so I wanted to switch it up. I did this, of course, by finding an excuse to draw yet another ARK creature. But I still had some fun with it! I gave it the equus stripes, I gave it some gradients, and I'll see about colors when the time comes. Overall, very happy with this unicorn.
100. Ikran
Doing an ikran was always going to happen. And I knew, in the back of my mind, that the markings would be complicated... but doing it was so much, it was so so much. It took so much time to block out each layer of markings. I had to use a mirror tool for the sketch just to survive. I'm thinking a kinda red-purple vibe for the colors, but we'll see. And does it have a huge head? ...Look, I needed to show off all the details on a tiny page.
101. Thanator
Did I put the two creatures with the most creatures right next to each other? Yes. I did. Because The List demands sacrifices. And it'll be cool to open the page and see them next to each other! But the grasslands Thanator was too cool not to use it for this design, even if the markings make by soul die just a little bit more.
102. Varren
The simplicity of this one's markings was such a welcome change from the last two. I can appreciate just a weird little dude, and I'm gonna play around with some fox colors/markings. But what's funny about this entry is that I've... never played Mass Effect. I've never even watched someone play it. But I like weird little guys, so hey. On The List you go.
103. Ghostray
The Ghostray doesn't quite follow the 'aquatic creatures are easy' trend, but compared to other entries this week... yeah, it does. The glowy effect was fun, and I'll see if I can pull it off on paper! I've got high enough hopes.
104. Commerson's Dolphin
Of course I'm gonna do Dolphin Day! Now, is this my favorite dolphin? No, the orca is, obviously... But orca has it's own day, so my second favorite gets to shine! I guess I like the black and white ones. Still, this one is special because it's one of my favorite special dolphins from Endloss Ocean 2. A pretty dolphin in a temple! Such a beauty.
105. Arrow Deer
Usually what I do for markings is I use a red brush to paint around them, remove the lines, and then use the fill tool to fill the markings in to make sure it was clean. I... did not do that for this. I just straight up used the fill tool, because at this point in the week? I was at my limit. And it turned out fine! So I'll probably do that more often. And for this absolutely spindly fun deer thing? Worth it. The colors might be neutral, they might be crazy, but that's future me's problem to deal with.
Week 15 was a lot, but I think it was all worth it do get through some of the harder creatures of the month. Alien April has been busy, but I really do have confidence in being able to post here more regularly. Is that, like, warrented confidence? Well...
I can’t believe i wrote the beans on toast thing like forever ago (a couple weeks maybe? I don’t have a sense of time) AND PREDICTED THE BOY DINNER
You saw into the future and knew what was coming.
Uhh not an ask but can I just say I love your art style and your art :3
Ok bye-
this is so sweet! i appreciate asks like these so bad 🫶
sports reporter x journalist 2000s romcom I feel SICK … this was literally meant for me I’m already buzzing w excitement over something that hasn’t been written yet hahah
I adore your fics sm and I love that even when you put them in Situations they still feel so true to their characters. and I think this fandom needs more fun twisty aus so I v much appreciate everything you’ve written 🙏
I'M EXCITED TO WRITE IT AH this is motivation to keep sketching it out. I still have to finish reading my mini syllabus of sports writing to really get a feel for what I want it to be. I don't always do this with fics, but especially if it's a topic I don't feel like I have enough exposure to I try to do some due diligence when possible. And I know literally nothing about sports or sports writing, so we're here. It's also been so fun to make things a time capsule and the aughts are a fun time period to explore.
In the meantime I'm planning on a little guy for Stancy Week, since I don't think this will get done in time for day 7 in all likelihood and I want to make sure I don't half-ass the research part of it.
i like to make gijinkas so that 1. i can share to others how i see characters as humans 2. i can imagine gijinkas in scenarios better when i feel like imagining human versions and 3. it's way easier to dress them up in my head in Beautiful clothes. i wish i could draw every lovely outfit i dream up for all of my gijinkas. i love putting them in so many cute things in my head it's like the main thing i do with gijinkas
