You do realize you’re part of her problem right? Pearl grew up thinking she couldn’t afford to make mistakes, nor have her own desires. And what’s coming crashing down right now? All of those repressed desires are starting to assert themselves, and Pearl has no mechanisms to deal with them. They’re throwing her off. And because she can’t afford to make mistakes, she can’t afford to own up to them either - making a mistake is bad, but acting like she did makes it real - something that can’t just be swept under the rug so they can pretend it didn’t happen and she can go back to not making mistakes.

The “I hate you for being less than perfect” attitude? It’s just making it worse.
