We already know JK doesn't have very strong stances on much so I take his behaviour as a barometer. In Hybe, everyone around him including the members act like Jimin is one of the less remarkable members (esp compared to himself) so he went along with that. In the military, other people must've pointed out how Jimin excelled and was the ace and JK went along with that as well

During the years he's close to Jimin, JK's personality becomes tolerable and more mature. During the years he's close to Tae, JK's personality becomes less tolerable (to me). Thats why I don't take the whole JK became more mature narrative seriously because the moment he's out of Jimin and the more sensible members influence, I believe he'll revert right back. He's like the opposite of a strong personality.

i mean, this was what jk had to say during golden's promo:

jk seems more like a sponge because he easily absorbs others' qualities and energies. he's easily influenced. it could be rooted to him entering the entertainment industry so young and having others coddle him (mind you, jimin and tae were also young, but they weren't coddled and were much more expressive compared to jk, so there's a difference).

he's had his own qualities, that's for sure, but he was reserved and hasn't always been the most sociable and open in the group. thus, it's likely that he tried to fit in more by replicating others and going along with what the majority says, especially if it benefits him. i don't know if he's aware that he's doing that or if anyone has ever pointed it out to him. as jk also said before, his personality is a combination of the other members'.

what went down during his album's promo is also a reality check because things and jk himself were contradictory. he seemed to have finally found his voice—he expressed being ambitious and wanting to be seen and respected as a solo artist, yet he proceeded to try that with an album that he had little to no input on. sure, many artists don't have major credits for some of their albums, but jk didn't even have one for his anticipated debut. since there is also the narrative that jk was one of the more artistic members in the group, this did not fit the narrative. the illusion was shattered.

jk going along with golden both displayed him wanting to be taken as a big boy, all the while being submissive to others' final say. he was like an empty vessel.

ofc these are only my perceptions of things. however, i also stand by the belief that his personality is eccentric; a little like tae's. not as intense, but just a timid, milder version. (edit: they're both easily influenced, i think.) despite this similarity though, he and tae do not jive that much, so it makes sense why they aren't the closest. same charges (and people) do repel each other, i guess.

jk being around jimin is indeed beneficial for him. jimin is reliable and a good influence (a blessing, really), and i believe this is a contributing factor as to why they went to the military together. if jk knows what's good for him, he will want to keep being in jimin's company and good graces.

P.S. speaking of easily influenced...

This will sound weird to non chronicly ill people but when I read that I am having focal seizures and it wasn't "all in my head" like the ER doc on call suggested I felt so validated, now my normal doctors and I can move forward with a care plan to treat a real problem
