This whole PR incident has disgusted me so deeply, I can barely think about anything else. I am no stranger to performative activism, everyday in the news I see politicians trying to outdo each other. But this, this is so fucking sad and offensive.
This whole damage control that she's doing for this man is actually damaging her fans. And the fact that she doesn't even care is so fucking sad to me. Additionally, the hate train that I've seen against Joe, both here and and on other platforms makes me so angry. It's easy for swifties to go 'that man can't fight, he deserves all this' online, isn't it. But they don't stop for one moment to step into his shoes and try to empathize with him. So he didn't want to marry her, so what? This happens all the time. Did you stop to think that maybe he's hurting too? I want you all to know that the karma your queen preaches about is indeed true and it will give you back all the hurt you put out. Just a reminder.
The one other thing that has killed any neutral feelings I had about Taylor is the fact that she is well aware of the intensity of her fans' parasocial relationship with her. She could have put out a simple message like 'Please don't harass anyone. This is about the music and the reclaiming of artists' rights' while the rerelease of her albums, but no. Instead, she says nothing and let's her fans harass people who are nothing but her past.
So, in conclusion, I do not support Taylor and I am personally boycotting her from now onwards. I won't seek out her music, neither will I do anything that supports her. If I must listen to the couple of her songs that I do enjoy I will pirate them.
I was interested in learning guitar. I asked a couple friends of mine whether to pick up acoustic or electric, and both said to go for acoustic. I did extensive research on Google as well and most articles say that it doesn't really matter. The only con to electric guitar that I see is the pricing, but I'm hoping to go second hand, so that might fall in my budget if I save for a couple months. But I still wanna confer with someone experienced. If anyone's got any advice, please drop it.
The Age Of The Understatement is so beautiful. I'm properly listening to it rn, sitting back and letting the music actually flow through and it's so fucking good. It's making me feel something. I don't know how to describe it. But it's like suddenly realising the sheer beauty of a flower that you pass by everyday and just standing there, silent, and staring at it mesmerized. I'm gonna cry.
