Got my copy of the Ardent Blossom! It was so beautifully packaged and goddammit I love this community. The introduction was so wonderfully written, I started to cry. @daflowerzine thank you so much for organizing this and getting it published.

Finally got Volume 2 of the New Scaremester comic and man....this shit lowkey sucks ass. It's such a total bastardization of the original Gen 1 timeline. And it's absurd how many well established things it just gets plain wrong.
And aside from that, the story itself needed to be fleshed out more. But there was just so much going on, it felt like nothing in particular was allowed to be as deep as it should have been. As someone who did genuinely enjoy Once Bitten Twice Dead, I think the story would have lent itself well to a series of novels, maybe each book from a different characters pov. They should have just made the comics more slice of life, similar to the webisodes.
And while I generally liked all the different art styles, the lack of consistency was distracting. Honestly the best parts of the whole series were the Pride/ Howliday comics.
honestly I think Ed would melt if Stede just started casually calling him terms of endearment in different languages, and when Ed asks what they mean and Stede excitedly explains Ed would dissolve completely.
Stede is thrilled to pour over his collection of Latin poetry for inspiration, and even more excited to explain the meanings and context to someone who actually wants to listen.
The urge to binge all of Wolf in one go vs the need to portion it out so I actually have things to say about it during my re-listen
i think.... in every relationship / dynamic / friendship / rivalry mi kyong’s hair symbolizing the red string of fate that ties people around her is such a sexy thought
Howleen's redesign in gen 1 makes me so angry for a whole plethora of reasons, but one that bothers me that I haven't seen anyone talk about is how they made her look like every other character. Like they really made her one of 50 characters with bangs and straight hair. Howleen's whole thing was having a quirky fashion sense and trying to find her own style. Yes, she wanted to feel accepted by her peers, but she also wanted to stand out and not just be known as "Clawdeen and Clawd's little sister"
The reasoning behind Howleen's redesign is steeped in racism and sexism and completely erased huge aspects of her character. In her bio she states that she changes hair colors every week, meanwhile every doll besides her Campus Stroll doll has pink hair. And compared to her first doll, her fashion throughout the rest of the series was so tame.
Something else that really messes me up about it, is that her redesign could have acted as a pivotal moment for her character growth. Perhaps at some point she gets sick of trying to stand out, and does a complete 180 and starts to dress like the rest of the peers. Maybe she does find success in that her classmates are nicer to her, but she becomes unhappy from not being herself and acting a certain way to please others. And then it's up to her real friends and family to encourage her to be herself again. We rarely got to see the Wolf siblings bond, and this could have been such a great opportunity for it.
Anyway, to sum up my thoughts, Howleen's character was full of wasted potential, and I think she could have been a super relatable character to so many kids, especially those who don't fit into any boxes. The fact that Mattel forced her into one is absolutely tragic.
Went on a hike yesterday and managed to not trip over any roots. Then Skye drops me off (car is not moving and on a slight incline) and I managed to fall on my ass and then hit my head on another cars mirror while getting up. Fucked up my leg but managed to laugh it off and clean everything up and then this morning my other leg is swollen. I SPRAINED MY ANKLE FALLING OUT OF STILL CAR...
