It does feel like Mattel made it a point to not give any of the Moonspell girlies the glam body. Cuz you know damn well customizers would have been all over that.

I think part of what's making me just feel "whatever" about Ghouls Rule Lagoona is just... the colour palette.

Like... It's technically a good colour palette, but it just makes her look so washed out, especially with that lip colour. I know g1 Lagoona has a fairly subtle blue skintone, but I don't know, it doesn't seem that flattering.

Also... Man, is her hairstyle ever boring compared to the other Ghouls Rule dolls. I know I've heard the execution of these hairstyles left a lot to be desired on the actual dolls, but I feel like they could've done more than just long and loose for a collectors version.

Then again, these SDCC additions to preexisting lines never really feel like they fit in with the original dolls, so maybe I'm overthinking this. I hope everyone who wants her can get her, even if I'm pretty underwhelmed myself.

#ive had to sit with her for a bit...#i honestly kinda love the outfit and the art on the box is incredible #i do think its a stretch to call it a ghouls rule doll tho #idk the others just have a sort of ballroom aesthetic that lagoona lacks #but honestly not a huge deal to me i think that whole line is a mess except for clawdeen #my main issues are the actual colors on the doll itself #her skin looks super gray her hair color is super unflattering and her eyes are blue instead of green for some reason #i dont know it just doesnt really feel like lagoona?#she's from the great barrier reef...she's not a deep sea creature #and i know she's based off of the creature from the black lagoon but like...in name only #giving her a mildly creepy vibe already feels off idk #but i do like her so im feeling really conflicted #i would probably try to get her if she was cheaper but i cant swing $80 for a doll im not in love with

Just had the most harrowing experience taking the hair and glue out of this doll's head. Under a read more because it's freaking GROSS

I had to cut a huge slit in the back of her head to get that huge hunk out!!! No way that was getting through the neck hole.

And I still cant get over the sheer amount of glue. And this isn't even everything that was in there because chunks of it had come out while I was removing the head!

#monster high #monster high dolls #doll customization #id in alt #my god all my tools were caked in sticky ass glue...#this happened last night and im still not over it #i knew it was gonna be bad as soon as i got her because of how yellow her head is #ive been procrastinating even starting this custom because of this #the purple stain on her eye was a fun surprise when i removed her face #rest assured im repainting her whole body so im kinda glad that she's such a junker #im never complaining about rerooting a gen 3 doll ever again #the plugs might be hard as hell to remove but ill take hand cramps over this nastiness any day #getting that giant chunk out was like watching the back of her head give birth it was WILD #i had the bright idea to put some cif cream in the head after i removed it to try and soften the glue inside or something #but i hadnt realized how bad it was until after id done it #so when i tried to wash the cif out a lot of it got stuck in there #so while i was scraping all this out all i could small was the cif cream #so that was fun #she got another good cif wash after all this #now i gotta figure out how im gonna close that massive split in her head
