I know he's shown instances of having at least an ounce of honour like when Shredder 'killed' Splinter in Annihilation Earth, b/c he was all like "Saki?? Tf, we were just helping each other, you just had to be a bitch now??"

So it wasn't impossible for to me to understand he drew a truce, but,,, they could've at least shown it and his confliction towards doing so until Leo was able to persuade him. It would've been so cool to see him get used to not killing the turtles and the others and adjust to actually enjoying their presence. And then the bonding with B and R!!
