I’m just IRRITATED by the direction of Chris and Harcourt because it could’ve been such a good ship. Two sides of the same coin. He turns his pain inward, she pushes hers outward. He had to learn to let people see his true emotions instead of covering everything with bravado but she had to do the opposite to survive in a male-dominated field. They both get harsh when they feel backed into a corner. Both full of self-loathing and think the people closest to them would be better off without them but he shows that by running away and she shows that by pushing people away. And that “I love you anyway” would’ve absolutely HIT if it hadn’t been while he was completely disregarding her needs and her feelings AGAIN after a whole season of him being way too pushy when she asked him over and over to back off. But now? If you want me to ship these two NOW??? After he won’t take no for an answer and runs off to another dimension to a version of her that looks the same but is nothing like her???? It’s going to take like 2 seasons of rebuilding before I could begin to consider being happy with that.
