My favorite part of the Love Alert finale was when Toh confronted Teh and Fah, clearly upset, and Jimmy kept looking back and forth because he wasn't upset at his friend since it meant he got his boyfriend back, but he always knew he needed to side with his man . . .
So he just decided to mimic everything that Toh was doing!
Jimmy was committed to not fucking this up again, and he was going to follow his man fully even if he didn't agree.
And when Run was mentioned, he brought out the sad face since he didn't want to be framed for his ex's involvement.
But, more than anything, I appreciated that Teh was quick to protect his man from slander regarding getting Toh and Jimmy back together since Fah was truly the only one out here actively not wanting them to get back together.
I'm going to re-watch the hell out of this show.
Hello!! Just wanted to say that I absolutely love all your aus and ideas...theyre genuinely so awesome 2 me and the one about poster boy hell guard zanka?? FUCKK so good why didnt i think of that. why didnt the NIJIKUS think of that.
To add on, I think it's honestly a plus that Zanka has this need for praise. Being closer to the people, to the trainees, means that they look up to him. Sure, theyre only looking up to the persona he has to put on for the sake of Hell Guard loyalty and morale, but its okay if it means that he's useful to the cause! And useful to his family...
Ahhh it'd also mean that he's more popular on the Ground I'd say...I think Zanka is also a way for the Hell Guard to meddle into other affairs without being called out for their interference. Everyone would be concerned about the threat of the big military (and political?) force the Hell Guards pose, but what's so harmful about the youngest son, Zanka Nijiku, who was recently in an interview talking about his love for incense sticks??
But then there are also the repercussions with Zanka always having to act as if he's under the spotlight, because technically, he is...every little thing about him released to the public, because sprinkling a little truth will only make it easier for them to gain public admiration, but Zanka just feels too exposed...
Oughh im sorry for rambling, your ideas are so good!!
i cant say if this is something ill actually follow through since im a big procrastinator, but if ever, may i have permission to write for it? with credit to u of course!

WFEHFHHJFSDJHLRJÖLFJKLGFJKG I'D BE SO HONORED!!!!! When I first posted the AU, I lowkey didn't expect anyone to like it that much, but I'd love to see someone write a fic based on it! Hit me up if you want/need to talk more about it plot-wise. And don't worry about your rambles, I love them!!!!!!
Honestly? I feel like Poster Boy Zanka would end up like a one man Kpop band in terms of effect (as odd as it sounds). I'm talking fangirls, posters, photo cards, INSANE parasocial relationships- the whole nine yards. Dude is pretty much made to play the perfect brother/son/lover/friend/whatever it takes to get people invested.
He's got a pretty face and is romantic for the girls. For the men he can be the cool "rookie" looking up to them OR their friend. For the wounded Hell Guards, he's the one who visits them in the hospital and brings gifts. For the children plays the part of their older brother visiting them at school, yade yade ya. There are a thousand shoes Zanka is made to fit for the purpose of his work.
I imagine the point of divergence in this would be what happened after Zanka crawled in that well tbh. Instead of Enjin finding him, it was a teacher who had grown worried about his sudden disappearance. They found the kid crouched down there three days in and immediately informed his family, leading to his father making the decision that Zanka was just too weak to become a Hell Guard like his older siblings and pulling him.
But Zanka was still a Nijiku. And every Nijiku has a duty to fulfil. If he cannot fight, then he'll simply be useful in another way. In this case, by serving as their glorified mascot and handling logistics on the side.
Dude pretty much just hands his own kid over to whatever propaganda/marketing/recruitment department they've got. Zanka feels so guilty and down he doesn't even put up a protest. They dress him up all nice in a hell Guard uniform and make him pose for some pictures. Once they got rolled out and Zanka turned out to be decently popular, they scheduled appearances at the academy. With 'troops'. Then with civilians.
Hell- Zanka being so "weak" actually helps them! I mean- just LOOK at him! Isn't he cute! So harmless. We gotta look after him, don't we? Don't let our dear Zanka boy lose his smile, protect him and countless other innocent civilians! Join the Hell Guard today!!!!
I'd even go so far as to say that they occasionally involved Kyouka or Goka in these shoots. Making them seem like a happy and loving family with Zanka taking the role of "cute younger brother wanting to support his siblings".
It's pretty messed up all things considered tbh. There's this whole persona built up for Zanka to embody which he just CANNOT break out of. He already disappointed his family once; he doesn't dare to do it a second time. Who cares that he can never truly relax? Or that deep down he still doesn't feel like he's worthy of all this love? Who cares when he's forced to bury his own emotions for the crowd? That he's made to perform even when he's tired or doesn't feel like it? Or that he never has any time left to truly pursue his own hobbies anymore? It's his duty to do. So he has to fulfil his duty.
If Zanka does still become a Giver in this AU (honestly, not yet sure wether or not he does) you best believe that he's hiding it. Not even his family knows. Lovley Assistaff is locked away in his closet, collecting dust. He can't risk her being damaged, nor does he have time to use her.
I have finished Reunion (after restarting twice) and here are my thoughts;
Solid B+ on the mystery. I loved the investigation process and how much the random stuff Max and Chloe pick up that doesn’t seem to matter only to have it come together at the last minute. I will admit that I wouldn’t have put together Max’s side of the investigation without the game explicitly telling me that the evidence pointed to someone.
Not a A though, if only because I think they should have filled out the entire thing out more. The game is simply a bit short and the mystery suffers from that the most. I still really liked the entire idea of it!
The side characters from DE suffer a lot from lack of screen time. Chloe and Amanda have good chemistry and Max barely even speaks to Amanda the entire game, which is a shame. Ren, however, needed WAY more screen time.
But there is way more that I liked than disliked! I loved the way the game decided to make Max and Chloe duel protagonists— the way we control their conversations is interesting and I love it a lot. I wish they had more scenes of them together but each time they talked was just 10/10.
Way better puzzles all the way around!!!! Max especially had some interesting twists on her conversational rewind puzzles. I do wish Chloe had more Backtalk opportunities though. Overall none of them were hard enough to make me look up an answer but I do have fun figuring them out.
No notes on the music besides they fucking knocked it out of the park on every level.
It feels like this game is a love letter specially for Max and Chloe. Like this game LOVES them. While there are moments in LiS and DE that make me think a writer had it out for Chloe, there’s none of that here.
This is exactly the game I was hoping for. It offers a rebuttal to the common thought that Chloe’s death is wanted by the universe and I think offers a really nice message of ‘who cares what the universe wants? Live anyway!’
Just a pure 10/10 from me. I’ll be replaying this game again for sure!!!
What did y'all think of Spider Noir?
