When Sugiki tells Suzuki what he did to Fusako, he is also letting Suzuki see him for who he truly is, a gentleman in disguise, a ruthless man, a grim reaper who will do whatever it takes to win. He even admits a secret that he actually enjoyed being a puppet master to Fusako, that he loved controlling her. This is the moment where he lets his mask slip and dares Suzuki This is me. I’m unlikeable. I dare you to like me. Do you hate me now?

Suzuki responds with one word Lame. Boring in the exact Japanese. Suzuki is essentially saying, Stop with your self hatred. You did what you had to do at the time. Don’t make a big deal out of it. Stop drowning yourself in self pity, it’s pathetic. Be your authentic self. I would rather see you as the grim reaper you are than as someone pretentious. I see the real you, and I like you. I accept you, flaws and all.

Then Suzuki abruptly leaves.

Sugiki is left stunned. How this guy disregards his shortcomings so easily and doesn’t judge him. Sugiki feels relieved. Yet, with that dismissive parting word, fear creeps in. What if he starts to hate me? I can’t let him hate me. If I don’t go after him right now, I may never see him again.

Sugiki is overwhelmed, and panic sets in. The loud sound of a speeding train in the background, accompanied by the blaring siren of an ambulance, symbolizing that the moment is slipping away. A sense of urgency takes hold, as if he will lose him forever if he doesn’t go after him at that very moment.

Sugiki runs, breathless, heart pounding, desperate. And there he finds Suzuki, inside the train. Sugiki can’t hold himself back. He rushes forward and grabs Suzuki, but before he can do anything, Suzuki kisses him. The world tilts, the train moves, and everything around them ceases to exist. It’s only them against the whole world.

This is the first time we see Sugiki being himself. Carefree. Unguarded. Unafraid. Just him and Suzuki, lost in their own little universe, holding each other, pushing, pulling, kissing, dancing, being happy, being alive, being free.

So here's my slightly fatalistic, most likely truthful summary of the current situation; I am pretty damn sure that the more safe Trafalgar Law actually feels in his day to day life the more carefully ordered and regimented his life becomes as well. Because after all when he has 'the good stuff' right there on his plate in front of him then he employs THE SYSTEMS he clings to because he DOES NOT want to lose anything...

All of which means a safe Law is not a Law who enjoys taking risks.

An unsafe Law though? A Law who is guilty and/or grieving? A Law who blames himself for the loss of his crew, two of his adoptive brothers and their much adored - and originally gifted to them by their beloved foster father - ship?

*That's* the Law who leaps without looking. *That's* the Law who takes risks. That's the Law who joined Dolflamingo's nightmare of a pirate crew, who stabbed a ten foot giant with a rusty junkyard knife instead of fleeing for his life as a child after being thrown out a window even though that shit could easily have killed him and you better damn well believe that even Little Law knew it.

That is the Trafalgar Law who has turned just feral and gut driven enough to take off the breaks and do whatever the hell he wants and hang the consequences. Because what does he have to lose? Almost nothing. So he doesn't give a sh*t.

That's the Law who was spiralling and would have crashed catastrophically if a particularly kind hearted giant of a marine officer hadn't seen the disaster about to unfold and scooped him up with the thought ''My problem now or everyone's problem down the line .'

And that? That is the Law we are most likely to be dealing with again now that the Polar Tang and the rest of the crew are gone. (Minus Bepo of course. Who will certainly try but Corazon he ISN'T no offense. Because we love the MurderBear.) Still we are probably about to get intimately reacquainted with the Law that is living mostly in his hindbrain. The Law that is stupidly reckless. The Law that does what he won't let himself in 99/100 other situations...

And yes that makes it the worst time ever. But also theoretically also the best. Because if there were ever a time in all of the canon of One Piece when Trafalgar D water Law mat actually consent to trying ANYTHING with Monkey D Luffy again instead of just running like a bat straight out of hell in the opposite direction...

Then right now is probably it.

Idk if anyone else has said this but at the beginning of falsettos they take a long time to do costume changes, probably cuz Marvin wants to keep things in place, like freezing a picture and then in the second act they constantly change clothes cuz everything is happening so fast and it's out of everyone's control 🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀
