One weird phenomenon I've noticed in lots of tv is that when there's a character the show wants us to find hot, despite plot context that makes them undesirable (or a given actor's hideousness), they'll put that in the dialogue. Characters around them, even uninterested ones, will start fawning over how sexy they are. And I would like to clarify that this only happens as far as I've seen for men. Women characters around them will start talking about how sexy and hot and delicious they are out of nowhere, despite having just met them, or hated them for 6 seasons, or etc. But now, in Stranger Things s4, for the first time ever, this has happened for a woman and I can finally say, yes, canonical text of Stranger Things, we are agreed, Winona Ryder is very beautiful.
