Carrying on with A!Pope and O!Dennis.
The competition didn’t end. Pope is very much aware that the two guys hate him and he makes sure to rub it in their face when he can.
It ranges from driving/picking up Dennis from work, spoiling him rotten (even Trinity when Pope buys some fancy gadgets for the Whitsantos apartment), he comes by with the excuses of lunch/forgotten keys, etc. Even if Dennis’ presence softens him, he makes sure to find one of the guys across the room to show that Dennis is his omega and that Dennis chose him.
At some point, Pope is living full time in Dennis’ room in Trinity’s apartment, actually pays rent. When Trinity is asked about it she just shrugs and says ‘He’s great, he cleans, cooks, even bought us the ninja slushie maker’
Sometimes Pope comes very roughed up from a job and Dennis fusses over him. Half of the staff even thinks it’s cute, while the other (read Rabbot) don’t think it’s very cute.
While Pope spends often his time at the ER, he manages to get some observations in about the whole staff and he even has his favourites other than Dennis.
Maybe when he’s waiting for Dennis to wrap up his shift, aggressive patient, hits one of the staff members (leaning towards Emma) and Pope has the patient neutralised within seconds on the ground, just holding him down so the security can come and take care of it.
Cue Rabbot being like ‘Maybe Dennis is safe with him, no? Pope has clearly some training. But what for-‘
The last bit may not make sense but my brain hung up on the idea that Pope would not only protect Dennis but also people Dennis likes.

So imagine its been a few months since popes first appearance in the ER, dennis has gotten to the point that hes more accepting and open about the alpha.
Trinity eventually starts asking to meet him properly, have him for to come over for dinner or a movie night. I mean yeah robby and abbot probably offered her a few days off to get the vibe on him too but she also wanted to make sure HER huckleberry was safe and happy. He was hers first- she made him intk who he was now remember. I think shed have taught him how to make nests amd give into his instinsts after finding him on the 8th floor taking dodge suppressents to ignore his omega side.
So when he finally agreed to have him over for dinner he spent hours- like the whole afternoon in the kitchen. When pope finally arrived trinity interigated him at the door- asking all these questions before he holding out a brand new ninja slushie maker "den said youve been wanting one of these for the aprtment" he mumbles.
She takes it from him and nods "yep hes a keeper huckleberry!" She skips back into the apartment and let the older alpha in. The next day at work when robby and abbot cornered her to check how it went she just shrugged "i like him, got me a ninja slushie marker.. looks after huckleberry it was actually oddly cute."
It only took a few months before trinity told dennis it was fine if he moved in as long as he chipped in around the house.
Oohhh and chipped in he did, he would clean after they had the other pittlings over, he would try to cook but usually left it it dennis. He started replacinf broken things the 2 med students couldnt afford to fix and would give trinity bundles of cash to cover rent for the whole apartment.
Then pope started showing up in the pitt all the time, robby always meets him at the door before dennis can spot him to try and get rid of him and stop him coming but pope just nudges him aside and walks to the hub. Bringing in treats for the nurses because he knoews how much dana looked out for dennis early on. So he just slowly wins over staff one at a time untill the only people who had a problem with him was robby and abbot.
And imagine when pope comes in injured (im talking came with a big ass cut down his arm from a fight but he still walked himself to the ER)- the whole department knows just because the air is filled with this heavy smell of omega panic- dennis basically pushed to popes side whining and nudging him to keep him awake(he isnt even close to passing out) while dennis makes Robby stitch him. Because if he cant do it his attendign is going too.
Hed sit in popes lap, staring up at him "promise thats the only cut? You dont feel light headed? Youre gonna be ok robbys really good at this-" he pushes his nose up to popes scent gland to try and calm himself in his alphas scent
"Im ok pup.." he mumbles while patting dennis head with his good hand, rubbing his scent on dennis till he calms down while robby glares daggers at him for making the poor omega worry in the first place.
Pope always tries to be there early to pick dennis up too- scenting him as they walk out cause he knows both attendings will be there and it pisses them off. But he comes in one day and hes hanging around the nurses station when theres a scream from one of the rooms as a patient had a swing at emma- knocking the young omega to the ground. Befire security can even move he was there between them with a sharp growl "hey we dont hit the nurse!" He snaps before landing a strategic punch aggressive probably alpha patients face. before turning to check on emma. By that time dana was already at emmas side with dennis and robby who were helping her up and out of the room.
He softened as he trailed after them while security dealt with the patient. His eyes watching dennis as he treated the fellow omega "its ok em.. we got you just breath.." he glances a bit at dana who despite being older was still making an effort to scent the younger pup to keeo her calm. Robby couldnt help but side eye pope- clearly this guy knew how to fight so he could keep dennis safe but also why the FUCK does he knkw how to fight like that.
And poor abbkt is still stunned from the first time they met and realised dennis is dsting a younger version of him and that he could have had a shot.
Dennis give pope the softest little kiss after that shift to thank him for protecting emma because it made him feel so much safer knowing that his alpha could protect him from the dangers of thr world.
Sometime he also like to mark up pope when he knows hell be coming into the er. Just to remind everyone he is just as much of a freak as his mate. And pope looks like he became dennis' chew toy
