ohohoh dear reader i need to TELL you about swap au dirkjake. massive rant under the cut :) here's a messy mock up of their designs!
HAHAHA OKAY right let's start with dirk i guess! dirk lives alone on an island in the 21st century. his grandmother is jade harley!
GT: Yeah, okay, let's get one thing straight, Strider. I had and I HAVE absolutely no fuckin' problem conceding that you're from the future. What I do have a problem with is you actin' like I can't compete with your tech. I'm fully self-sufficient out here, cyberboy.
dirk's chumhandle is 'gunshotTimbre'. he really likes guns. it's his symbol! it's one of the things he fixates on about his grandma. in reality though, she wasn't that big into weaponry, and he's totally extrapolated that. dirk is still dirk - he's just. a bit easier to connect with, a bit more defensive about his convictions, and a little bit sillier. he still loves mlp, but holds stronger affinity for rarity than rainbowdash. he would never admit this.
his typing quirk is very similar to how he speaks in canon. the difference is mainly how he expresses himself. there's lots more contraction (fuckin'; actin'), lots more caps, and lots more emoticons (usually :| or :/).
the thing with this dirk is that he's impatient. he's smart, resourceful and tough. he wants things to happen as quickly and efficiently as possible; he's as calculated as his original counterpart. this dirk is the prince of time - he speeds up the impasse of the session, and also (in this timeline) quite LITERALLY breaks time. his role in the alpha session is kind of the anthesis of dave's. he has to screw over and destroy existing time loops made in the B1 session in order for their session to work - it's a bit of a long story involving damara pyrope, and one day we'll get into that.
NOW! onto JAKE!!!!!!!! jake lives in a flooded texas high rise. his ancestor is dave strider. now, in the betaswap, dave becomes a harley BECAUSE of jake. there are some confusing names the further down we get... anyways!
TT: fully self sufficient you are indeed but tell me dirk have you ever watched star trek? i bet you have you strike me as the type. well all that shit is cool and the theories they've got about space are great and hot damn those andorian girls but i digress.
TT: there's a reason you guys are making a tv show about it instead of actually doing it. you know that.
TT: you literally can't do certain things english! gosh if you were up here with me you'd probably be a thousand times more capable. i'm not shy admitting that. in fact it kind of makes me smile. just learn to be a bit of a damsel for me sometimes okay? it's what i'm here for after all! hahaha ;)
jake's chumhandle is 'telltaleTribute', in reference to edgar allan poe. look, he loves his ancestor, but his literary tastes weren't all that... refined. in an effort to distance himself from the sbahj series, jake made an effort to surround himself with more complex literature. he still loves blue women, though. and adventure! and trashy movies. he's just more well rounded. he's also big on botany! and. "botany"! wink wink nudge nudgeeee jake smoking weed propagandaaaaa! but thats stupid. more on the real stuff!
his quirk is also quite similar to his normal one. he barely uses commas, if at all, but he does use perfect punctuation aside from that.
this version of jake is, quite noticably, a bit more of a twat. a lot more sure of himself, too. this is because jake strider has the capacity to act on his power fantasies. he has the tech, he has the control of the session, and he's a lot less cagey than dirk is with it. he divides tasks, puts more faith in others - he's the sylph of blood, and as such, heals through bonds. he acts as the session glue. and he kind of thrives at it!
there's a lot more to say about both of them, but that's all backstory, trivia, relationships with other players, and session stuff. so lets move on to the YAOOOOOIIIIIIIIIIII WOOOOHOOOOOOOO YAOIII!!!!! YAOI!
GT: You talk to *girls* like that, Strider?
TT: oh heavens no!
TT: only boys.
GT: How many guys are you talking to?
TT: well.
TT: it would appear that i only talk to you my fine fellow.
GT: How. About. That.
GT: Okay, at least tell me Star Trek gets better.
TT: i am so sorry, dirk.
GT: Fuck.
TT: that would spoil all the fun i get in showing it to you!
when it comes to their relationship, dirk is still clingy and jake is still avoidant. the main difference is in how that manifests. dirk is overly attached, and jake flits between overly indulgent and way too dismissive. he doesn't know how to prioritise dirk, and he doesn't know how to communicate his own boundaries - but he does love him. because jake is actually capable of communication, and dirk is slightly less headstrong, their relationship is tighter.
bonus - dirkjake is the genetic combo responsible for dave and jade! hilarious shit going on. i imagine dave needs glasses. jake also does, but he wears Sick Shades because like. theyre sick. i may make more posts about them who even knows. hope u enjoyed! :)
