so about vegimals
i dunno if you guys saw this post that i made (specifically, the tags and comments (specifically, @brownyanyk's comments) on that post) but i made the mistake of joking about vegimal yaoi.
which. they're all siblings. so ew. i realized this much MUCH too late
but it DOES raise the question of how were they born and how do they reproduce so as one of the millions of resident nerds on tumblr i have to answer this question, obviously
the theory i came up with (and the theory i'm sticking with) is that vegimals, when they grow up, produce seeds that can be planted, which will grow into vegimal eggs, which will hatch into vegimals.
BUT.
in A Very Vegimal Christmas (BEST EPISODE BTW), it's shown that shellington found them on the side of the octopod where there is nowhere to plant stuff. so how did they get there?
btw, we're assuming that all of the vegimals are aroace and that they reproduce asexually because i don't wanna think about tunip getting laid man. that is,,,,,,,, too much for my eeny weeny brain
we know that they're a combination of fish and plant so if anyone has any ideas please PLEASE tag me im genuinely curious

Thoughts on the vegimals?
Vegimals are kinda weird to me
I often forget about them tbh. Like, when I think about the octonauts and daydream scenarios to put them in, its always like “oh yeah thats right the vegimals exist lol I forgot about them.”
But they are cute. I find it odd that they do most of the cooking/cleaning since theyre literally children. I know that the vegimals enjoy it and are safe but still… Some random in-universe organization/hater group probably uses this as ammo against the octonauts. I picture those cringe over dramatic obviously fake tiktoks with the ai voice being like “did you know that the Octonauts enslave children to cook for them?!??!??”
The vegimals are an interesting concept as a whole. But they’re fun to think about. They can breathe underwater, so they have gills. But they also breathe on the octopod. Do they have gills and lungs? Do they actually need to breathe? Who tf knows ig (besides shellington)
Might do individual designs/headcanons for then someday who knows

Does it ever get tiring being basically the only ones who make all the food?
I'll answer first - yes, it ABSOLUTELY does. I mean, I enjoy the kitchen, but I am grateful for the help that the other Octonauts give occasionally, and the adventures us Vegimals get to go on every now and then. Gives me a good break from the sheer monotony of the place.
