ok so im not smart, and this is gonna be reaaaaally rambly because i dont like making my thoughts coherent really, so take everything i say with a grain of salt, right? but abt the like robin speech
aside from everyone elses beautiful arguments about why it does not mean byler is cooked, i do think one thing is like. noteworthy?
wills powers are more or less brought on by seeing his friends, but most specifically MIKE, about to die. as in, it SPECIFICALLY SHOWS MIKE FLINCHING AWAY AS THE DEMOGORGON LUNGES, BEFORE IT CUTS TO WILL AND STARTS THE FLASHBACK.
and then it replays robins speech, over wills happiest childhood memories!! a genuine third of which are ABOUT becoming such close friends with mike!! caring about him, becoming so close with him.
why, the FUCK, would they play a monologue with the overarching message of, "yeaah... you gotta get over that guy. sorry!" overtop of that?? "yeaaah, the reason youre thinking about this right now is because of him, and because you reaaaaally dont want anything to happen specifically to HIM, because you LOVE HIM, buuuut actually you gotta stop loving him now" does replaying the speech overtop of that part not mean that in the next when we go back to the present he is currently doing it?? that he IS living for himself, that he isnt being scared anymore, that he is being free?? and, by the nature of what CAUSED it to occur, that he doesnt have to stop loving mike to do all that?? that loving mike is what MADE him do all that???????
he doesnt ever have to stop loving mike. loving mike isnt something he has to get over, loving mike is what made those powers FLOURISH!!!! loving mike is what triggered this in the first place!!!
uhm
maybe. dont. take my word for it. but probably !
