I feel this weird hollowness in my memory. Not having a past of being “one of the girls.”
All of the friendships i have had. They have been real. They have been loving. But there has always been a gap… I wasn’t *me.* and so even though they loved me, trusted me, helped me, support me now, they didnt treat me the right way when we were together.
But that is not their fault. Or mine, really. There is no fault, there merely ..is..
And there is the future as well. I make friends even easier now. Not only do I perform good friendship, but i also perform my authentic self. People trust you when you’re comfortable being you.
Unrequited[ly thinking about you]
Your mind is a beautiful place to be
Somehow you found space for me
Little by little you settled me in
But I couldn’t feel you under my skin
I should’ve occupied your heart
But I kept asking myself, where are the sparks
If loving you were an art
I’d do it correctly
But I’ll make you fall apart
Because I can only love you imperfectly
It was my greatest fear
That we were only meant to be soulmates
Still, I kept your kiss as a souvenir
For you, my heart sheds a million tears
Even though we are only meant to be a string of dates
I know the love of my life awaits
I wish he and you were one and the same
But with you there are no flames
I’m sorry we played a losing game
I never lit your fire
But someone out there burns for your desire
A year ago, I went on my first date ever. I met someone who had developed a huge crush on. He was sweet. I often felt tortured by how much I adored him but couldn’t reciprocate how he felt for me. Through writing, I was able to make my choice, to set us both free. [This post and the next are “poems” that I wrote shortly after I called things off]
This GIF is profound to me...because it reminds me of how perplexed I was by my first ever romantic experience. I had met someone who I couldn’t love. And when things ended, like most modern love stories, we became ghosts. And yet...I feel embarrassed that I can’t forget or avoid how often he crosses my mind. I wonder if he ever thinks of me as an unrequited love. And I decided he probably doesn’t think of me at all. But I’m grateful that I can remember -- think of him.
And I often imagine someone else accepting the sublime love that I know he can provide.
I wonder why I’m so sad over a memory from over a decade ago
I’m suddenly really sad.. I had many people in my life I couldn’t leave a proper goodbye to, or say thank you to.. I try to do this a lot now before it’s too late, but to that boy, I’m really thankful. My image of him could be very fabricated over time and I may remember him much better than how he really is (I don’t think so though?? because there isn’t that much to go by in the first place) but to the people who gave me nice memories to remember them by, I am utterly grateful. I want them to realize that they’ve made someone’s life happier by being there for me.
Of course, the same goes for everyone who’s been kind to me here too!/// Although I can’t talk to every single one of you, I very appreciate your kindness and for having watched over me with patience and care! You all are precious people and I’m happy you exist, hope you all have good days to come!!
Lost then found.
