The time I made Rubilax but clay
In May 2025 I had free time in art class to make whatever, so I made these. I used modge podge for the shine.

"Well, you're certainly...ornery, aren't you?" Hiccup asked the other mer, who lay face down on the damp sand a few meters away, his chest heaving and his long, silvery-blond hair strewn messily over his face.
"Ornery?" He groaned, his breath wheezing. "You'd be upset too if you're literally about to die."
Hiccup didn't recognize this mer from his pod, but as he took a long look at his fellow stranded companion he could tell he was from somewhere further away. His scales were dark, and his eyes and hair were pale, and all of his fins-- his flukes, his ears and the ones on his arms and back-- were clear and see-through. He seemed to be a deep-sea mer, and while he was about the same size as Hiccup, or his upper half at least, he was much longer in terms of his tail which was pitifully strewn across the beach, its transparent fins limp and soggy like a washed-up jellyfish.
"I guess we'll have to wait out the tide and hope we don't dry out by then?" Hiccup suggested.
"Wait it out?" the deep-sea mer complained. He seemed to be breathing more heavily now, and Hiccup noted the several pairs of gills flaring laboriously at each side of his chest. "Easy for a shallow-sea folk like you to say." His gaze turned sharply toward the sea, his pale blue eyes both determined yet afraid. He was in trouble, and he knew it.
The deep-sea mers had far less tolerance to being out of water. Built for the depths of the ocean, not only did they risk drying out on the shore, they also struggled with their bodies being crushed by gravity, and they found it more difficult to breathe in air than underwater as they relied more on their gills than their small, weak lungs.
Vainly, he clawed at the ground with his hands, his tail writhing uselessly in the san, which easily shifted under him, denying him any meaningful traction to progress forward. Hiccup could see on his face that he was growing increasingly desperate. Both of them were stranded, but it seemed the other mer's situation was far more urgent. What was an inconvenience to him seemed like an immediately life-threatening predicament to the deep-sea dweller.
But what could he do to help?
---🧜♂️---
"Okay, hang on, there's no need to panic. Let's just figure this out. In the meantime..."
Reaching his hand towards the water, he brought a large sphere of water from the ocean. It floated over them until he had it settle over the other mer, making sure to soak their tail. "I can't make a wave to wash us back to sea, but at the very least, I can keep you from drying out."
In the moments of disorientation, he'd forgotten he had that ability. It didn't get much use unless he was on land.
"I have an idea, but don't overreact, alright?" Bringing his fingers to his lips, he let out a sharp whistle. Two long blasts, with a short one in between. "C'mon, bud. Be close by..." He looked to the sky in anticipation.
A black silhouette appeared among the clouds. "Toothless!"
"Alright, get ready to get back in the water--uh, I actually don't know your name. I'm Hiccup, by the way. Anywho, Toothless can give you a ride back into the ocean."
The dragon landed, rumbling happily at the sight of Hiccup. "I know, I missed you too, bud! Can you help my new friend out here?"
Toothless turned to the other merman, sniffing as he approached. "He's not going to lift you unless you say it's alright," Hiccup explained. "Either trust the dragon, or stay beached. Simple as that."
Why is this song in a whole 'nother realm of existence
Edit: I tried listening for lyrics Here's what I got
They're in control They're in control They're in control They're in control They're in control
Flying in control (They're in control) Flying in control (They're in control) Flying in control (They're in control) Flying in control (They're in control)
Ooh Yeah
Sing right along
He's flying alone And all the sky is his own Because everything is in his control
He's soaring Up into the air as high as he can possibly go It's easy for him because he says it is so Oh oh
She's flying alone And all the clouds are her own oh Because everything is in her control
She's soaring Up into the air as high as she can possibly go It's easy for her because she says it is so
Soaring in peace(?)
She's soaring Up into the air as high as she can possibly go Oh It's easy for her because she says it is so
Yes you're soaring Don't ask to be (ask to be) (?) But when they fly, they really fly (they really fly)
Oh They're in control (They're in control) They're in control (They're in control) They're in control (They're in control)
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
They're in control (They're in control) They're in control (They're in control) They're in control (They're in control) Flying in control (Flying in control) Flying in control (Flying in control)
