Getting real tired of seeing videos on youtube saying anything similar to "Gaming is ruined."

You can blame whatever you want; capitalism, rich CEOs, microtransactions, bad publishers, greed, and etc.

Gaming is fine, the only thing that's ruined is your expectations. Don't think you have no responsibility over the games you consume. As terrible and shady many of these practices are, they have only gotten so far with the support of consumers who don't know any better or people who don't care enough to put their foot down.

There's still a crapload of games that are releasing without many of gaming's issues. The indie scene is right there. Browse through those games and find something you like. Maybe if you played games that weren't marred by corporate scum the industry wouldn't look so bleak.

Stop looking at one side of the industry and deciding that it represents the industry as a whole. Make an effort to play games that don't do all of the bad practices you hate. It's not even hard to find games that respect their audience. Again. The indie scene is right there.
