ohhhhhh i picked up another of ivana skye’s books, this standalone novella thing called the size of the world, simply becuz my brain won’t focus on books that are uncomplicatedly good not sehhinah and i thought this might be kinda close, and......it is not close the writing style is COMPLETELY different. at first glance i wouldn’t have possibly guessed it was written by the same person if i didn’t know......but then in continuing into it like, the core and ethos feels very familiar to the author too......

but it’s all a very very allegory for a scientific phenomenon (that is never explained! the book leaves you with an INTENSE feeling that Something Was Up That Would Explain Everything but still feels completely whole and evocative, but i guess if you’re motivated enough it just waits for you to g o o g l e some terms to give yourself a retroactive cascade of sudden understanding!!!!!! the skill level is??????? the level of craft cleverness?????? also and??????? wtf?????? it’s like REALLY good. a few clunky self-pub-typical sections but apart from that???

also there is a very minor proto-holy character (by the publish date this was done before sehhinah) who is!

it's set in a flat earth (ringed earth?) secondary world. this also very manga like in style but in a very different way, more like the Actual captions and dialogue of manga than a light novel adaptation of one, very dreamlike/poetic, extremely sparse prose

the description doesn’t tell you it’s a scientific allegory it also doesn’t tell you that one of the two leads (it’s a sort of f/f romance) is a trans fem, though this information is couched in a description of a cultural practice that is SO far from the nu-acceptable anglo narrative of how transness Must work, the romance which is between two YOUNG people has intense and brief and unselfconsciously unwinking unanxious Deep BDSM (though with no bdsm culture or accoutrements whatever becuz it is completely no connection to real world or time) and i?????

THE SIXTH EPISODE CALLED ‘SLEEPING BEAUTY’, WHICH IS ABOUT THE ELEKI TROUPE PUTTING ON A PERFORMANCE OF TCHAIKOVSKY’S SLEEPING BEAUTY AND THE BALLET CLASS VISITING THE TROUPE, IS ALSO ABOUT THE PRIMA DONNA PAULAMONI’S CHILDHOOD DREAM OF PLAYING THE ROLE OF AURORA IN SLEEPING BEAUTY AND HOW SHE DOUBTS SHE CAN DO THE ROLE JUSTICE, AND ALSO FEATURES SCENES THAT TALK ABOUT/REFERENCE THE THEME OF AMBITION/DREAMS AND WAKING/SLEEPING.... AS IN MYTHO’S SLOW ACQUIRING OF HEART SHARDS BEING AN ‘AWAKENING’ FROM A SORT OF DREAMLIKE STATE, PAULAMONI SAYING THAT YOU ALWAYS WAKE UP FROM A DREAM—YOU MUST WAKE UP EVENTUALLY FROM YOUR DREAM..... HER HUSBAND RESPONDING THAT SHE CAN’T DO AURORA JUSTICE IN HER CURRENT STATE BECAUSE AURORA IS “THE KIND OF GIRL WHO CONTINUES TO DREAM EVEN WHEN SHE’S WOKEN FROM HER DREAM” AND PAULAMONI HAS BECOME AFRAID TO DREAM...... AND THEN!!!! THE FOURTH SHARD BEING FEAR!!!!!!!! AND THE MEANING OF  AWAKENING (to reality) IN THAT SENSE IS AWAKENING NOT ONLY TO POSITIVE EMOTIONS IN YOUR HEART AND IN YOUR WORLD (LIKE AFFECTION AND COMPASSION) BUT ALSO TO LONELINESS... SORROW... ..... FEAR....... AND YOU COULD COMPARE THAT WITH PAULO’S DESCRIPTION OF AURORA TO SAY THAT COURAGE IS NOT THE ABSENCE OF FEAR!!!! BUT THE WILLINGNESS TO KEEP GOING AND TO KEEP FIGHTING AND TO KEEP PERSEVERING DESPITE AND IN SPITE OF IT!!!!!!
