BBC news just did a report on poor treatment of intersex patients by Great Ormond Street Hospital, but it was really inaccurate (equating sex with gender by saying that intersex was a condition making it hard to tell a child's gender etc) but I used it as a chance to educate my mum (about choice of the intersex person and not just operating on their genitals at birth, and about how biological sex is a spectrum, of which male and female are only arbitrary - and often inaccurate - categories, as a lot of things make up biological sex). She seemed pretty receptive, which was good (especially considering the comments she's made about nb/trans people in the past)

I've been thinking about the term "dfab privilege" and I think it's really misleading and wrong. Like, you can have cis privilege, if you are a cis girl, and you can have male privilege if you're a trans male, but those are not the same and manifest in different ways. Plus it leaves out nonbinary and intersex people who don't have those privileges, or not in the same way (i'm dyadic, so please correct me if I'm wrong about something) and it's just... not a useful term.

However, we do all benefit from a system which perpetuates transmisogyny, and should all be doing our best to elevate those voices, especially trans women of color. I just think there are better ways to speak about this issue.

Do you know if there's a term for discrimination/prejudice/etc against intersex people? I googled it but I couldn't find anything.

Dyadism is the word for that as far as I'm aware.

does it actually say gender or sex? if it says sex, you should put the one that you were born with, if it says gender, put whatever you want

it says gender :/ it'd still be erasive of intersex people if it did the same thing for sex tho tbh
