getting a partner and getting married young is a dfab privilege
person on tumblr: [particular group] should recognise their privilege and take it into account during discussions
the same person, after being told they have privilege: why are we dividing people up? can't we all just be the same?
the 'afab privilege' tag is a weird mix of afab people who recognise their privilege and transmisogynists comparing us to mras
hey, what do you guys think about dfab privilege? do you think it's a real thing? and if so, who has it? how does it manifest? I have heard many things about dfab privilege, from people who think it's real and people who don't, and I'm interested to hear your take on it because nobody seems to talk about it anymore.
speaking as a dfab nonbinary girl, i think the only way “dfab privilege” makes any sense is when we’re talking about tranmisogyny. dfab people collectively have institutional power over trans women and we need to be accountable to that.
beyond transmisogyny, dfab privilege is really meaningless, because it somehow suggest that dfab women and trans men have the same position in society, which is just not true? you’re trying to treat men and women as having the same institutional power which doesn’t work.

I've been thinking about the term "dfab privilege" and I think it's really misleading and wrong. Like, you can have cis privilege, if you are a cis girl, and you can have male privilege if you're a trans male, but those are not the same and manifest in different ways. Plus it leaves out nonbinary and intersex people who don't have those privileges, or not in the same way (i'm dyadic, so please correct me if I'm wrong about something) and it's just... not a useful term.
However, we do all benefit from a system which perpetuates transmisogyny, and should all be doing our best to elevate those voices, especially trans women of color. I just think there are better ways to speak about this issue.
here are some dfab privileges. check them daily!
more likely to be talked over, shushed and shut down
assholes will find lots of excuses to keep it going if you transition to another gender
maybe uterus
blamed for everything bad that happens to women everywhere
constant scrutiny from people who feel entitled to monitor your every action
probably peeing sitting down on comfy warm toilet seats
doesn't fart
okay maybe sometimes but it only smells like roses
"dfab privilege"
= "i live in a geothermal vent 20k leagues below the sea and reproduce by budding anyway here's some fanfic about the surface"
I get treated like shit by everyone. I want some of those benefits that I apparently already have because I'm dfab. Nobody sees me as anything but a retarded fat girl. Where's my army of people defending me? I'm not a boy so don't pull that "trans bro MRA" bullshit. Fucking don't.
