I did another Dye Day! 

This was A LOT of work for an ‘OK’ outcome. These are Fibre Reactive Dyes- which work on plant based fibres and not very well on wool/silk.  I used cotton ‘crochet’ thread, and skeins from a HUGE spool of rayon.

Paint/pour dyes onto skeins/warps of cotton fibre

roll into plastic wrap and let sit for 24 hours+

soak in ice water to set colour

boil to release extra dye

hang to dry.

All Right!  finally got everything dried out after dye-day last week.  For my final tapestry weaving project- the arbutus bark colours(left) came out FANTASTIC! On the right are several test samples and smaller bits as I was practicing and trying out different types of woolens. Dyed in the wool has NOT worked out well so far. :(
