Let me just start by pointing out that I am by no means perfect. No one on here is and we all need to remember that before we go tossing mud at each other out of frustration. We are all in the same boat here as creators and readers respectively. Have some love for yourselves and each other.
Now, on with my rant. My rave. My maddened monologue and subsequent descent into chaos.
Firstly, this recent commentary on interaction while important has been framed in entirely the wrong way. This isn't about "big vs. small", it's not about writer vs. writer, it's about us acting like a community. It's about supporting each other instead of blaming each other. This is not a competition and if you think it is, you are on the wrong platform.
Now, we can all recognize that there is an imbalance between reblogs and likes; that sucks. Writers are thirsty for feedback. We are literary thots! But that being said, a note is a note, a like it a like. Sure, a reblog is a leg up and it's all the better but what gives any of us the write to guilt or shame the people who take their time to consume our works? Really?
Furthermore, this who big vs. small thing is insulting to these writer you deem as the former. Those who work as hard as any to create. Now as a quote small blog, you don't work any less, or put any less thought or heart into what you do so what makes you think that it's different for quote big writers? Do you really believe a number divides us? Where does big begin? (I still see myself as the small side blog writing about Bucky being an asshole and I will always be that girl on the bus typing up these dirty dirty deeds.) We are all here for our craft and to be frank some of us are just here to read about dick. Let's not take ourselves too seriously.
What I'm trying to say is that if you're going to try to police 'interaction' on this site, start with yourself. Don't name names if you don't truly intend for those names to be harassed, don't throw accusation at others of laziness or entitlement, and most importantly, stop comparing yourselves to others. You are you. You have your voice. Use it in a positive way. Don't use it to tear down others.
And if you feel worn out, exhausted, ignored, take a step back and breathe and remember to write for yourself first.Let's be safe, be healthy, and love each other and ourselves.
