The sound of a falling limb woke me up on Saturday.
Luckily it missed my car and missed the power lines (the power coincidentally went out around the exact same time) and friends came over to help drag it to the side. But the tree that it fell from is dying and has to be removed.
I bought this damn house in April, because "oh, we've lived here for years and haven't had any problems."
- Decking had to be removed, multiple boards need to be replaced. It all needs to be stained come spring.
- I now have a mud pit as my backyard that needs to be grated and landscaped.
- I've got rotting siding on the house. My friend suggests that I should replace all of the siding with more weather resistant options, not just replace a few boards and paint like I was planning on (that was already going to cost $10K).
- The gutters need new joints. And possibly replaced entirely.
- Washer sounds like a dying helicopter and leaks if the water isn't turned off.
- And now, a huge tree has to come down.
But sure, home ownership is just such a better investment than renting.
