Really fucking hard not to believe something you've wanted to hear so badly, even when you know it's probably not true and the person saying it is simply caught up in the moment and wants to make you feel better so they can feel better. Also really fucking hard to find out that your suspicions were correct and you should have disbelieved those words you so desperately wanted to hear, but you chose to play the fool instead.
Honestly, though, it should be hard to find out you chose to be a fool. It should be painful and feel horrible. You need the intense discomfort, and you need to consciously use it to help yourself learn.
