If you don’t get me, what makes you so sure I get you?
I appreciate that many among the internet classes can have trouble understanding what I’m trying to say. Equally, I have trouble finding ways to say things in a way they might be able to grasp. I say grasp, rather than understand.
It amazes me that often mere stylistic difference is enough for people to say, “I don’t understand.” Instead of what they really mean, “You are not using the terms of reference/paedagogy/vocabulary laid down by my expensive education.”
You’re right, I may not be, does that mean we cannot try to communicate with each other?
Who I am, and my experience of life, does not reflect that of the majority of those who make up the internet dwelling classes. That shouldn’t be a deal breaker for exchanging ideas, experiences, solidarity.
