When i saw "ahiro putting something over him" i immediately thought back to my favorite sleepover game which is "how much stuff can I pile on top of my sleeping friend before she wakes up" and i think thats way better

like on a larger scale, i could def see like............ we all know shiro needs to take a load off and recover SOMETIME, and i bet more than once the team found him dozing off someplace he shouldnt be, at a command console or a desk riddled with those glowing future documents and drives or on the communal room couch when he said that he was just going to ‘rest his eyes’
and so they dont want to wake him UP. but they cant leave him ALONE. and lance was probably the ringleader in starting up a game of ‘how much stuff can we pile on top of sleeping shiro WITHOUT WAKING HIM UP or you lose’ to add a sense of levity. sometimes its piles of blankets, sometimes its all the bowls from the galley, it all depends on the mood and just how tired their beloved leader is.
shiro is embarrassed at first but he likes that theyre Bonding and Laughing together, but the game falls off as things start getting serious, and yknow, as he gets wrapped up in all of these intense fucking problems that the canon is tossing his way about his identity and autonomy and all that stuff
but he and lance are getting closer, and lance naps everywhere all the time, and shiro usually gives him a blanket or brings him to bed but then one day hes like... i wonder how much stuff i can put on him before he wakes up?
at first its just silly impulse stuff, whatever is on hand, lances discarded shoes on his back or his jacket on his chest with the hood flopped over his face. once lance is propped up on the couch asleep and he puts sunglasses on him, only to be caught by pidge, and the two of them struggling to keep a straight face when coran comes in to chat w lance and doesnt even notice hes asleep.
the tables have officially turned, and lance is now the focus of everyones Mean Naptime Game lmao, he is just asking for it taking naps Wherever he wants and why havent they thought of this sooner?? thru trial and error, they discover that theres about a 50/50 chance that lance will snuggle whatever they give him, also, including hunk himself when keith and shiro convinced him to go and lay right on top of lance to see if he would wake up.

idek why i wrote all of this just know that it would have to culminate in lance realizing that the culprit is approaching him when hes got his eyes closed, and so he pretends to sleep until they get close enough only to open his eyes and yell “GOTCHA!!”
shiro yelps and drops whatever junk hed gathered up to pile on top of lance all over the place, and tumbles all over him, blushing, knowing that the joke has gotten ridiculous at this point and ready to be embarrassed, but lance is just laughing and trying to wiggle free underneath him and hes Just So Cute its a whole like 5 seconds before he remembers that oH YEAH HE HAS TO GET OFF OF HIM--
