If you told Piper last year that she’d be spending next New Year’s Eve in a western style saloon, drinking with a guy who tried to rob her fiance’s convenient store, she definitely would’ve called bullshit.
And yet here they were.
The saloon’s table was sticky with Piper didn’t know what, and the chairs wobbled, and there were way too many people crowded in the tiny bar making the air humid and muggy, cause it’s not like places like this ever had air conditioning. But despite all of that, Piper couldn’t stop smiling. It’s not even an hour to midnight and she can already tell that this will be a New Year’s Eve she’ll never want to forget, even if she’s sweating in her pretty new dress.
She picks up her cheap little shot glass daintily, meeting Adrian’s gaze as she cheerfully knocks it back. A wrinkle of her nose, and a shake of her head, and Piper is slamming the little glass back on the table enthusiastically.
“Okay.” Piper starts, glancing around the saloon in amusement before she’s asking, “how much do you wanna bet I can relieve one of these southern gentlemen of their very fun cowboy hats without ‘em noticing before the clock strikes midnight?”
