Scottish Labour Leaders
This was first posted on Facebook on 15th January 2021, with support from my Ko-Fi network. "Can you recommend me a good Sandwich, Mr Gray?"
The best moment during the final Scottish Debate - it's polling day in Scotland today -which was otherwise rather drab and repetitive.
I'll need to give some context - during the start of the election campaign by the Scottish Labour Party, their leader Ian Gray was hounded in the middle of Glasgow by anti-cuts protesters. For whatever reason, Gray and his entourage retreated into one of the wonderful Subway sandwich shops. This is perhaps going to be the incident that the 2011 Scottish Election campaign will be remembered for.
So, during the end of a sluggish, hard-fought television debate, a local Scottish man (they were in Glasgow), asked Gray "First off, could you recommend me a good sandwich?", before asking a serious question about Labour policy.
I love our sense of humour in this country, I really do.
