The Girl in the Mirror [[Mira & Danny]]
She had to admit: even though she'd been waiting for months to meet someone who had abilities like she did, now that it was actually happening Danny couldn't be more nervous. She shifted uncomfortably, subconsciously taking up fighting stance as she waited.
She blamed her nervousness on the circumstances: if they'd just been meeting at, say, the bar or the diner or something, this wouldn't be so bad. But this was under S.H.I.E.L.D. orders, which tended to sour things.
"We have her on loan from the Xavier Institute," the man in the black coat said, flipping through a file and not looking at Danny. "She can get into DNA, so she can give us a better idea of what you are."
"If there's a whole school for people with special powers, why am I not there?" Danny asked, looking at the man. The man didn't reply.
"Try not to be yourself, Snow Angel. She's known to have a temper."
"With all due respect, sir, you're more likely to piss her off than me."
The man might have said something, but his mouth snapped shut as his speaker told him that the Xavier student was on the premises. He nodded, standing up and slapping the file down on the desk. He motioned for Danny to follow and she did, mostly out of a lack of knowing what else to do.
Mira was... blonde. Not like a bad blonde - Danny was blonde, too, after all - but she was just very pretty. She looked normal. A little pissed maybe, but like normal human pissed. Danny hadn't realized that the vast majority of "others" could blend in just as well as Danny herself could.
"Hey, can I talk to Mira alone for a bit?" Danny asked the man in the black coat. "I thought we should get to know each other since, you know, you want her to mentally probe me?"
The man in the black coat looked perturbed, but he motioned for his assistants to back off. Danny and Mira were left alone in a large, squarish room, facing each other.
"So," Danny began, casting for a conversation starter, "I hear you can read DNA."
