WHAT A SHAM! >> 2013 Shammies<<
I just got back from my trip to Ghana (I'm still mentally trying to stay there) and my internet was unreliable, therefore my usual annual shammies are late! But better late than never so let's count down the biggest shams of 2013!
10. [PORSHA STEWART] When it comes to Porsha Stewart, I don’t even know what to believe. This season of RHOA, she admitted that her persona last year as a happily married newlywed wife was a big sham. This is the same woman who had countless high pitched tear filled monologues about how Kordell “isn’t perfect” but their marriage works for them etc. etc.. Of course we all read through that (Porsha you are a sham for not even knowing how to be a sham!) Anyway, she’s now saying that all of that was fake and now wants REAL sympathy for the fact that she had to lie about her marriage. Porsha is telling us this season to forget the last, and now wants us to know that Kordell was really a man on the DL who never spent any money on her, and wouldn’t let her have contact with friends and family. Now I don’t make light of any form of serious domestic abuse, however, I’m giving Porsha the side eye because if you lied about everything last time how do we not know that you are continuing with your lies this season? Here are my issues with your stories Porsha:
Last year you talked about how lavish your lifestyle was and how you do nothing but go to Starbucks, yoga, shop, workout, look good, and repeat. We saw you wearing designer brands and being given a $200,000 check at your birthday dinner from Kordell, yet this year you are telling us that you really had no money in your wallet. (Did he take that check back when the cameras stopped rolling?)

We now see Kordell making timely spousal support checks of $5000 yet you want us to believe you had to borrow 500 from your mom because he never gave you money. Speaking of your mom, for Kordell’s birthday last year you and your entire family were so giddy about looking great for him; prancing around in all of those gowns and not once did your mom or sister ever look indifferent or un approving of the situation. Did you all come up with a script for this façade and are you all really that great of actresses? Everyone had big smiles on their faces when the money was flowing in.
You sound like you are all about the money and you are a sham for that. You’re sitting here complaining now about how he promised you and your family shopping trips to New York and Paris, and because that didn’t happen you guys are completely throwing him under the bus. How about focusing on how he treated you as a husband. If he didn’t treat you well that should be the focus on why are you upset it didn’t work, not because of a failed shopping trip. Don’t get divorced and NOW try to insinuate that he is gay (even though I kind of believe it, but that's not the point!) The point is you just seem very bitter and salty, and that was very tasteless of you (see what I did there lol)
Porsha, you are BLOWING it. Your storyline of a young kept woman is getting old. People want to see you and be inspired by you finding your way. You come from a legacy of hard working trailblazers! Come on now! You talked so much in the past about how your cast mates inspired you; well then you need to start a shoe line, a sex toy line, start a beauty school, a booty workout DVD, something! I don’t know if this spoiled airhead thing is an act or not, but you have an opportunity by Bravo right now. You need to use it wisely bc every opportunity has a shelf life! (yes I quoted Burlesque) Bloop!

9. [HONEST TEA] Honestly, Honest Tea sucks and there’s no other way to put it. The fact that they have the nerve to advertise this as any part of the ice tea family is a sham. I’ll give it to them, the name and branding is cute. I’m a sucker for things like that so of course that’s what prompted me to try it (you got me you bastard marketers *throws up fist*) However, upon the first sip I realized I had been duped, bamboozled, hoodwinked, and led astray! This is literally the worst tasting ice tea I have ever had. Lol. SMH I’m getting angry just writing about this. Moving right along!
8. [SNL] I love Saturday Night Live; I always have, but they definitely do get a shammy for not having any Black women in their cast since God knows when. Believe it or not, sometimes I think I’m funny (shocker) and I actually fantasized here or there about being on SNL, but silly me at 9 years old! I never saw anyone that looked like me on there, and who would I even play? It’s not like there were even any Black women that looked like me heavily in the media anyway. I will say that I am glad that they are responding to the needs of the audience with their attempt to cast a real Black woman, but to the cast member: How does it feel to KNOW FOR SURE that you are the token Black person. Like, it this case, it’s not even a question.
7. [JOJO SIMMONS] is more of a clown than a sham, but he makes the list because I’ve never seen someone be so adamant about pretending to not be born with a silver spoon in his or her mouth. JoJo you don’t have to act like a stereotypical rapper just because you aspire to be one. Haven’t you learned anything from J. Cole? It’s okay to not sell drugs and be eloquent. Earlier in the year during an interview with The Breakfast Club, when explaining his Transexualgate experience, he stated that he didn’t know the lady was man and his girlfriend was mad that he was attempting to hook up with girls via twitter. When asked if she broke up with him he responded with “She’s not leaving this Simmons money”. Sir, do you mean you FATHER’S money? Oh so NOW you want to acknowledge your silver spoon. You’re pretty much saying that you KNOW the girl is either with you only for your money or that you think your family’s money is the only way you can get girls. Both of which, are wack. Please get some self-esteem and bring something to the table other than superficiality.
6. [THE OLG] The Old Lady Gang featuring Mama Joyce and her two sisters. These seniors with attitudes were such shams for putting such a damper on Kandi’s whole wedding experience, with Mama Joyce leading the pack jumping up and down with one shoe on. No need for a shoe Mama Joyce, the collective shrill of your high pitched voices would’ve been enough to irritate me and have me “Just leave!” The sham part of this whole situation was that they tried to lie on Kandi’s friend Carmon as if she initiated any physical attacks. SMH. The attitudes at the dress shop were so bipolar:
OLG: Try on one more dress baby
Kandi: Okay, well what do you think?
OLG: I don’t want you to marry
5. [TAMAR BRAXTON @ Soul Train Awards] Not her singing voice, I mean to pretend like she’s not talented would be JUST silly. Tamar acts like a bit of a sham during the Soul Train Awards for some reason. That must be her Halloween and not Oct 31st like the rest of us because last year she was Beyonce (I tried it), and this year when she accepted her award she was talking like she was Michael Jackson and look extra spaced out! Ma’am! Will the real Tamar Braxton please stand up!?
4. [IG POSERS] I just CANT with people who pretend to be something other than they are on social media. I honestly don’t get it and need someone to explain this to me. What is the purpose of having 198978 selfies in a row pretending to be unhappy with your body, yet you are wearing next to nothing posing strategically to show your curves, etc. Fishing for compliments much? You can be whoever you want to be on Instagram and little sham things like that irk me.
3. [PETER GUNZ] is either changing the game in guy code or is in major guy code violation by marrying his side chick, Amina, on Love & Hip Hop Atlanta. He’s one of the youngest looking 40-year-old men; add that with his charm and you have multiple baby mamas, a wife, a live in soul mate, and children all over the place. That’s not the sham aspect of; that’s just called MESSY! What makes Peter a sham is that last season he truly had the nerve to try and give Rich Dollaz (eye roll) advise on relationships as if he was the sound of reason. He tried it.
2. [BRANDI GLANVILLE] from RHOB was a favorite of mine when she first got onto the show. She was actually nice, but very honest, which a lot of the ladies weren’t. She called out people that needed to be called out, but she’s now gone from the honest one to the crass one. Sometimes, just because something is the truth doesn’t mean you have to blurt it out without a filter. You’re just turning into a mean girl and it’s not your duty to just say anything that comes to your mind; you're taking your “I’m the blunt” one character too seriously. She’s now added role credits of bully, lush, and racist with the way she’s been acting this season. Gag!
1. [GEORGE ZIMMERMAN] George Zimmerman was undoubtedly the BIGGEST sham of 2013. As a grown adult, to PURSUE a child (whether he looked threatening or not) then murder him and say that you were scared for your life is bulls***. George Zimemrman is a classic case of a coward who felt empowered because he had a weapon, accompanied by a large napoleon complex. This case showed that stereotypes are a bish and they will get you in trouble. I love how no matter how much younger or smaller you are than your attacker, being Black automatically means you are more dangerous; so someone has a right to firstly make that ASSUMPTION about you, act on that assumption, then take your life. Once your life is taken, they then have the nerve to question the entire existence of the mere 15 years you had as an adolescent; about how you were a hoodlum because you drank or smoked weed or cursed. Yet your demographic counterpart who is actually older than you can drink, smoke weed, curse people out, pee in trash cans, and order prostitutes, and egg houses, but he’s not a hoodlum, he’s Justin Beiber rich and White, so in that case, he's just “growing up and finding his way”. Of course it’s not until Zimmerman is found in other places with his gun and pulls a gun on his own wife and father in law that he THEN becomes seen as aggressive, because now he pulled guns on White people so he has now made the transition from victim to aggressor. Stereotypes are a bish. This man and this trial was a complete sham and if you support him in any shape or form, I question your character and morals as a human being. Period.
[Who else was the biggest sham of 2013?]
