Iām still young, there are things that I don't know and understand, but one thing I do know is who I am attracted to. I am not straight. I am bisexual. That one word has caused so many issues, and accepting myself has been a long and painful process. I still consider myself in the closet because my family doesn't know. Nobody in my family knows. Hell, they don't even know about my run in with drugs, or any of my relationships other than the first.Ā
When I first realized, I told my close friends [at the time] because I wasnāt sure if it was a good idea to tell my at the time boyfriend. I was right. He reacted badly and was afraid that I would cheat on him with anybody now, not just guys. But I was in love and blinded so I complied. Donāt. Never again. But I can go more into it later.
Since that time, I really haven't told many other people. Definitely not my family. It sucks and hurts so much knowing that if I do tell them, they won't accept me. I know definitively because I've heard my parents rants about gay marriage and my extended family is super old fashioned and Christian. My male cousins who are both 21+ years of age, haven't even had a girlfriend. They're more interested in sports and games. While I'm more interested in being an adult sooner for freedom and being able to control my own life. I wish I could admit to them something I feel ashamed of but shouldn't be. Something they shouldn't disown me for, but will. Why is the fact that I like girls, similarly to boys, so bad?
I donāt need to tell them anything, but I want to. I can't tell them, but I should. Itās my life, and my choice, but it sucks, and it hurts. Iām sorry I love her.Ā
