There was a smudge of light on the horizon that he could see if he looked over one of the crumbling walls of what may or may not have, at one time, been a shop. Or had it been a room inside of a larger structure? He just couldn't tell, the structure--or structures--had been eroded too much for him to pick out what it may have been... And there was the fact that he really didn't care about some stupid ruins. There were more pressing issues at hand.
Namely the issue where he was stuck in the middle of nowhere in the desert and the dawn was creeping up on him. Thankfully, the largest building nearer the center of the site looked a quarter of the way interesting more interesting than it's surroundings and decently intact from the outside--so, of course, that's exactly where he headed. He truly doubted his real reasons for traversing the desert would be realized. So, perhaps, ransacking the place would make the troublesome journey into some too-hot too-sandy hellhole worth it?
And then something made him stop; Dark ducked low behind what was left of some wall or another, yards short of the entrance. Had it been a noise? He was pretty sure it had been a noise. One that he hadn't made--he was almost certain that he wasn't the only one skulking about the not-so deserted desert ruins.
It was like a darkness at the end of a too-bright tunnel. He would have equated it to his prayers being answered, even, if he didn't think the deities wouldn't rather smite him. He wasn't the only schmuck stuck out in the middle of the desert!
Now all he needed to do was make sure his ears weren't betraying him, or that whoever it was wasn't just some wayward stalfos or rabid dodongo seeking the same refuge he was.
