Welcome our newest lady.... who has brought her own team... Meet Poly Pocket. She's a 5 year old polydactyl momma kitty from a local shelter. This beautiful and sweet girl spent 58 days there before we pulled her. A cat's gestation period is anywhere from 60 to 70 days, so we will be having babies.... For the first time ever. She is too far along for a late term spay or any preventative measures, so she is sitting comfy in foster care awaiting our newest arrivals. Please keep this sweet girl in your thoughts as she prepares for the big day. So much change and stress can make for an uncomfortable pregnancy. Mom is healthy and loved as she is our top priority. Sushi finally got some answers last night. Seems he was found stuck in a fence post by the animal control officer. This means Sushi suffered lack of oxygen to the brain for some amount of time. He's a very special boy and he's showing signs of discomfort. Another vet visit is in order with a potential move to a specialist for an MRI. While we feel awful we've been treating for the 'unknown' and the 'possibilities', versus offering him pain management and guidance with his disability, we promise to do better for him going forward. It's likely he will have long term special needs, but those needs aren't out of reach for the most loving of homes. We'll keep you posted. Please contribute to his medical bills, if you can. Once we get invoices and quotes for the next steps, we will share. His initial visit was already a couple hundred dollars last week. We promise....he's worth it. Happy adoption day for Potato! Potato is our senior guy who was adopted and returned from a local shelter since he was 5 years old. On his last adoption trip, he was declawed. Now, at 10 years old, he is going to his ACTUAL forever. We're so happy for this sweet old man. His new family just melted over him. He will be the king of his well-deserved castle. Thank YOU for helping us save so many lives. We pulled 15 within the last two weeks from a needy situation and only have 4 left who are looking for their new homes. This means "adoptable" is only an opinion and "forever" is a promise we intend to help these owners keep. Please meet Breeze and Potato.... These two amazing kitties have two tough stories. Potato was just 5 years old when first entering the shelter. He was owner surrendered and spent the next three years there. Once again, he was adopted for just a few months before being returned...declawed. Potato is now 10 years old and not trusting humans so much. They promised him forever three different times and removed his claws the third time. Then he still ended up at the shelter. Potato is a calm old guy who just wants to be your one and only in a calm environment in your home. We are sure someone can keep their promise now, through our organization. Breeze is just a year old (DOB 1/13/20) and was confiscated into the shelter in March of 2020. Breeze has lived her entire life in a dog crate inside the facility without being spayed or even dewormed. She was not socialized properly so any sudden movements scare her. She is a tiny girl at just under 5lbs. She loves other cats and doesn't seem to mind dogs. She is a little "kennel crazy" as we mostly see in shelter dogs. This girl just had her world get so much bigger and we're looking for some even bigger hearts to welcome her home. Welcome these 12 PRECIOUS fluffy souls! These kitties were all pulled from Panhandle Animal Welfare Society in Fort Walton Beach. They all have different needs going on ranging from ringworm to whipworm (not even in the same 'worm' family) and infected leg repair to severe diarrhea. This is all on top of coming from a shelter they spent months at in little spaces all alone. Most were brought in as owner surrenders. Overcrowding in shelters is a huge problem. Shelters are not dumping grounds and most are not equipped to handle the influx they receive. We're so excited this shelter is taking steps to lessen intake versus create more space. Creating more space is NEVER a good idea. Creating more opportunity for the community to assist the animals themselves is ALWAYS a good idea. They are running a $20 cat and $40 dog adoption special until the end of this month. We need some assistance for some kitties 'next door'! PAWS in Okaloosa County has a tremendous amount of animals needing to be fixed and we want to help them by sending 50 of their cats to a separate clinic so even more will be prepped!
