1. 'There is always work to be done.'
It is thoughts like this, that know how best to kill.
[Sometimes, all is done.]
[Sometimes, it is enough.]
2. Unlearn the fear of speaking out the truth.
[Sometimes, your tongue too can teach you.]
3. Unlearn the tendency to settle.
Especially when, it involves you viewing yourself as unimportant.
4. Unlearn the tendency to feel shame.
I promise, you are not yet finished.
[You are not yet finished.]
[You are not yet finished.]
5. Unlearn the tendency to plan needlessly.
Life was here before and will be after you. Let yours unwrap itself to you, let it speak.
[Take comfort in the journey.]
[Take comfort in the journey.]
[Take comfort in the journey.]
7. Unlearn the belief that you are not of value.
That you have to be 'like them' or where 'they are.' Unlearn this, especially.
8. Unlearn the need to raise your voice and shake the earth. Start now. Do away with your rages, and forgive yourself first.
Sometimes, rage is a thing to be swallowed.
[It can wound you, darling.]
9. Unlearn the need for noise. Communicate yourself, more. Rush less for opinions. Practice grace+drink more water+learn you can be still.
10. Unlearn fear of the unknown.
[Most of your prejudices, after all, have started because of this fear.]
The importance of practising love, is that your neighbour/enemy is you. Under a different light, a different culture, an alternative life. When you don't love yourself, it reflects in your bitterness and hatred towards other people. Slowly at first, always painfully.
11. For the sake of yourself, if nothing else, unlearn intolerance. Easily fallen into, but it is filthy.
12. Unlearn that you cannot and should not ask for help. That you must hide, and struggle, and waste.
13. Unlearn the belief that holding onto everything won't drown you.
When your spirit is failing/when your heart+mind are troubled, you know it. Always. You always know the exact moment your walls must fall.
Over and over, again and again.
The simplicity of forgiveness, is that it requires nothing but the weight it will take off you. Hand it all over, start again.
But more importantly, in all that unlearning, learn to stand on your faith.
Learn to treasure God's promises: To restore, heal, comfort, redeem, love.
Hold on to these promises, deeply. Cling as tightly as you can.
