Due to the other challengers being unable to participate, challenger @zoe-ia has won the 2017 Triumph Trials!
@zoe-ia wins a fabulous prize: a chalet in the mountains of Austria. She also has the title of Triumph-er and will get a silver sword that is infused with an elemental power [fire] and will burn anyone but her.
Her team mates will all receive a precious gemstone (ruby) and a trip to Austria as well.
The results of the second trials are in and the winner of the second trials is @zoe-ia!! At number two @soohyun-ia comes in after being the weakest link in the first trial and @lu-ge-ia ends up in the third spot after being the replacement of our @jongxin-ia who pulled out of the race.
PRIZES
@zoe-ia has won the second trials which means she gets a Full healing treatment that will heal all wounds from the second trial. She also receives Five gold bars and a vacation trip to Hawaii for four people (for after the trials).
She also receives a golden bow of luck which will allow her to shoot straight 70% of the time.
@soohyun-ia has placed second and will receive Thee gold bars and a weekend trip to the Jeju islands for two people (for after the trials).
He also receives a silver dagger of pain which will hurt 50% more when used on children of the light.
@lu-ge-ia was third and will receive one gold bar and a one-day spa retreat in South-Korea for two people (for after the trials).
He also receives a copper hammer of building that will grant 50% more skill when trying to make something with it.
There will be new hints posted in the hide outs soon and the third trial will start on the 26th.
All might like to know that the injuries to the people the challengers had to save have been healed. Aside from @zoe-ia however, the challengers will have to heal from their trial on their own.
In the deep of night the challengers are awoken from their beds and taken to the top of the wizard tower. They are told they can bring anything this time, what a pleasure it is. Then they are teleported by a mystical power far away from the academy.
Every challenger arrives on their own dark island, when they arrive they are naked apart from their underwear and they can pick up an armor. Winner @jongxin-ia gets a high quality outfit, warm and able to withstand rain, snow and other elemental forces. @zoe-ia has to do with a spring outfit, which is not as warm or protective. @soohyun-ia finds himself in rags that barely protect him against the cold and harsh weather on the island.
Without any additional explanations there is a large clock in the sky in shining blue letters that counts down from 72 hours.
The challengers also figure out that they have no powers left, no extraordinary knowledge, not a single supernatural gift except those they got from their team mates.
The challengers will have to save their three team mates from their fears plus after doing that face their own fears. And all of this within 72 hours.
The characters have been enchanted to act out and be hysterical, they will remember this later and if they die on the island they will be in pain (they won’t actually die, but your characters do not know this). The challengers muns will write out the characters, since they are under an enchantment slight ooc is not a problem but try to keep them in character. You ‘saved’ a character the moment they calmed down and stop being afraid. They will then disappear from the island and your challenger can continue.
Obviously there are trigger warnings below.
Jongin
@jongxin-ia has to save:
1. @jamie-ia who is stripped of his ranks as an Ixtab officer and hidden on a high plateau. His strongest emotion is anger and he doesn’t want to die anywhere but in space. He is also won’t trust anyone.
2. @emma-ia who is terrified of the sunlight and thinks she is burning, trying to hide herself under the dirt. Her strongest emotion is fear and she is absolutely hysterical. She will use her strength to fight off anyone.
3. @kimhyolyn-ia who is willing to die and needs to be stopped from walking into the fire. Her strongest emotion is depression and she will be determined to walk into the fire.
+ @jongxin-ia own fear. After saving the above mentioned the challenger will be faced with their own worst fear and when they overcome that fear they will ‘win’.
His powers during the trial:
Terrorshift (Yifan), Enhanced Dexterity (Jamie) and Increased strength (Emma) (so not all senses, that are several powers not one).
Zoë
@zoe-ia has to save:
1. @seungie-ia who is seeing everything slip away around her, sees her loved ones die (but it is all an illusion). Her strongest emotion is sadness and she will be sure that indeed, all her friends died.
2. @minwoo-ia who is standing among the bodies of all he ever loved, sure he killed them himself and now wants to kill the last person he ares about (him). He will be hysterical and afraid.
3. @cara-ia who is pregnant but out of her mind, mindcontrolled as she will fight Zoe every way she can. She will give up when Zoe either defeats her physically or gets through to her (if she knows enough about Cara’s past). Cara is emotionless and mindcontrolled.
+ @zoe-ia own fear. After saving the above mentioned the challenger will be faced with their own worst fear and when they overcome that fear they will ‘win’.
Her powers during the trials:
Superspeed (Cara's), Blood sensing (Minwoo's) and memory manipulation (Seunghwan’s)
Soohyun
@soohyun-ia has to save:
1. @ian-ia who is sitting next to a bed with a woman in it (His mother), he is crying and when you try to approach he will fight you. Either defeat him or get through to him (He is sure he killed her himself). Ian is unreasonable and sad.
2. @hyungwon-ia is locked to a bed in a burning house with his glittery wings exposed, save him or let him die.
3. @taexmin-ia who is chased by a World war 2 officer with hounds. Defeating them is not enough, you need to calm down and catch Taemin as well. He is hysterical and very quick.
+ @soohyun-ia own fear. After saving the above mentioned the challenger will be faced with their own worst fear and when they overcome that fear they will ‘win’.
His powers during the trial: Healing black smoke (Taemin), Floating (Wonshik) , Botany knowledge (Hyungwon).
The way it works:
Write a selfpara about the trial include separate paragraphs that describe the different trials the competitors have to face. Include how long they take to find the others and how long it takes to save them (or not save them). If they take longer than 72 hours, they are automatically teleported away from the island.
The winner of this trial will get a huge advantage in the last trial that will determine the winner.
The following teachers will judge the trials:
@inguk-ia, @emilia-ia and @samuel-ia they will all give out points for mind, body and soul, with other words: how smart the challenger was, how physically fit and how ethical they were.
This + how many of the four fears they overcame + the duration will determine the winner.
POST THE SELFPARA BEFORE THE 16TH OF FEBRUARY AND tag @insolitus-academy, @samuel-ia @emilia-ia and @inguk-ia. Also COPY the link and SUBMIT it to the mainblog.
Be sure to include appropriate trigger warnings in your selfparas.
You can like the post with different muses, but only one muse per mun will be able to participate
Challengers are chosen by type/random number. AKA if there is one COTL signing up and five Darkspawn, the COTL will get in + 2 Darkspawn (darkspawn chosen by random number).
Be sure to be aware that signing up will mean that you have the chance that your character is chosen for three very dangerous tasks, but! there are big rewards and eternal fame!
The challengers will be chosen by next weekend (Friday)!
Since there were some questions about the trials I am making this post, if you have any more questions feel free to ask!
What is the role of the Challenger?
The role of the challenger is take on the challenges, they will be the ones on the front line, fighting beasts, solving the puzzles in the three trials and being the heroes everyone adores. Other names you could give them is chosen ones, champions or idiots-that-take-on-this-dangerous-quest.
What is the role of the second/back-up?
The second or back-ups are the challenger’s biggest friends and foes. They will take over the role of challenger when they are too hurt to continue or too afraid to do a task, however if they let their second do the task the challenger themselves are not able to take the role of Challenger back up again. This makes the dynamic between the two very dangerous and interesting!
In the most positive scenario the second is the Watson to Sherlock and the Chakotay to Janeway. Helping them, supporting them and making sure they succeed.
In the most negative scenario they are nemesis-es and the second will try to sabotage the Challenger to take on their role.
OOC note: in case of the Challenger not being online on time the Second will be able to submit their challenge and automatically gain control of the title.
What is the role of the ‘team’ and the five entries to the secret hide-outs?
The challengers all have five links to private rooms (Like the OOC chat) that are the in character hide-outs for the teams. The challengers can choose who they invite to their team (in an ideal world, every team will have seven members during the first trial: five team members, the challenger and the second). These are people the challenger trusts (in character) and they help the challenger with tasks.
In character you need to imagine that the challenger picks five people from the IA verse, non IA-rpers are not allowed that will help them. These people can be anyone but the other challengers and second’s. This means that ANYONE that is not: @jongxin-ia @zoe-ia @woobin-ia, @phxkai-ia, @soohyun-ia and @lu-ge-ia can be invited to join a team, whether they do is up to the people that you invite!
They will join the private room & they will be able to interact there!
What if I invite someone that another person also invited?
Then the person that was invited picks who they want to join, where their alliance lays.
For example: @zoe-ia and @jongxin-ia both ask @key-ia to join their team, @key-ia will then choose whose team he will join (in this case, Key will reject both since he is one of the staff members that helps with the trials and therefor, remains neutral).
What if I invite one of Admin’s characters?
Knowingly or not, if you invite one of my characters they will be inherently useless with riddles or other things that I, OOC, have designed to be solved. However, the powers or skills of the character will be at your disposal.
BUT WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER TEAMS IN THE FIRST POST??
They mean nothing now, the new teams are completely chosen by the challengers. The people that signed up but were not chosen are now just students etc. that can be chosen by the challengers. They have no special privilege.
The IAttt will be extended to Monday next week instead of tomorrow. GET ON THOSE RIDDLES. One person figured them out and don’t forget you are very much expected to help each other!!
The second trial has ended and that means only one thing: the results are in and things start to get very serious. Let’s see how our challengers did!
ZOË - [ x ]
TRIAL COMPLETION POINTS: 40/40
TIME POINTS: 30/30
EMILIA:
BODY: 9.8/10
“To be a warrior means to sacrifice and Zoë has shown extreme actions in how she handled and was willing to give up anything, even her beauty, to save her friends. The pain she endured was unbelievable and therefor I give her a 9.8 for her physical accomplishments.”
MIND: 7.5/10
“Zoë seemed to have a firm grasp on the powers that were not hers. Especially the part where she sensed the child Cara was carrying was a very good usage of foreign powers. If she had not lost her temper in her last trial, she would have scored higher. But a warrior never cries.”
SOUL: 10/10
“Memory manipulation is a foul power, while I do not blame Zoë for using it, it certainly did not help her score. Making a friend live on while they are in pain... ah well, the fact Zoë refused to fight a pregnant woman was admirable however and I will grant her points for that. Then she did what any commander should do and sacrificed herself for those she was, in this instance, responsible for. A very noble act. Earning her the highest score possible.”
SAMUEL
BODY:10/10
"During the entire trial, Zoe continuously proved herself to be a true fighter. She managed to complete each challenge while just defending herself against the attacks from her teammates, but what truly impressed me was the way she handled her own fear. True strength does not lie within having no fears or effortlessly managing to move past them, but to struggle, stand up and face said fear head-on. The bravery it takes to walk through fire would be immense even for people who are not afraid of it – and Zoe did not just walk into it, she persisted and kept fighting even when the flames burned her own skin. For this I have decided to give her the highest available score: 10 out of 10 points.”
MIND: 7.5/10
“Zoe also managed to use her powers in a smart way, particularly when combining memory manipulation with her efforts to free the three people at the end. The blood sensing power came in handy with both Minwoo and Cara as well, but I do feel like she relied a bit too much on manipulating memories during the trial as a whole. It made things easier and faster, no doubt, but it was often not the only way to deal with the situation at hand. Therefore I am giving Zoe 7.5 out of 10 points.”
SOUL: 9.0/10
“There are people who would have used Cara’s pregnancy as an advantage to gain the upper hand in a fight against her. Zoe, however, decided right away that she would not harm her and rather protect Cara from herself instead; adapting her strategy and managing to subdue her in a non-violent way. On top of that, Zoe was faced with the textbook example of an ethical dilemma when she saw her beloved trapped in flames–and because she decided to try and save them all, even at the risk of sacrificing herself in the process, I am giving her 9 out of 10 points for this aspect of the trial.”
INGUK
BODY: 5.4/10
“I gave a lower score simply because there were some things she could have avoided by being more physical or reacting faster than she did. She took far too many punches in her fights with Minwoo and Cara. However, her tolerance ans survive-ability in the cold weather and harsh conditions was incredible though I guess it has something to do with her liking cold shit I dunno’. I would'a snuck her a nice enchanted jacket or something if she needed it but nah that’s “cheating”..”
MIND: 7.7/10.
“Similar to Soohyun, she worked well with her surroundings and even her own clothing, using a ripped piece of her dress to her advantage as rope. She also used all of the abilities given to her in smart ways, even ahead of time (such as sensing the dead people with the blood sensing). Kind of amazing that those abilities came in hand with the exact people she received them from. There could have been some time spend on getting food and making shelter so-as to rest in better, and SAFER, conditions, though. Like who knows what could have come up to hurt her? I mean, she was woken up being attacked by a pregnant woman. They’re the scariest kind of woman! …Kidding. I kid.”
SOUL: 9.7/10
“I mean damn. The kid- I mean, shit I keep forgetting she doesn’t want me to call her that- Zoe sacrificed herself to save those who were burning. I mean, shit, dude, how much more ethical- Just.. It was hard for even me to watch her walk into the fire just to rescue her friends who were dying, and fighting through her fears OF them dying to do so. She seemed to care more about helping everyone than worrying about her own health which was.. dumb. But a good dumb, if ya’ know what I mean. Like I could learn a thing or two. I do think she did well enough to stop the pregnant lady, although she had plenty of time to at least help her to a safer or more comfortable place rather than leaving her there.”
TOTAL POINT COUNT: 146.6/160
LUHAN -- [ x ]
TRIAL COMPLETION POINTS: 30/40
TIME POINTS:10/30
EMILIA:
BODY: 7.3/10
“You had access to the best possible body available; the Ixtab terrorshift. A majestic form of being that should have gotten you through every trial. You did use it, which was a plus but you did not fully appreciate it to it’s full abilities. You could have handled things better and ended with a higher score, if you had done so. Also who sleeps when they know you have things to do? Weak.”
MIND: 8/10
“I haven’t laughed this hard when I saw my little brother fall off that thing and lay there like a ragdoll since I was on my own planet and for that I am just going to give you points even though you were an absolute idiot during that part of the trial. You should pursue a career in comedy. I will come and visit you. It was very smart to help the vampires and not fight them, a large part of staying alive in battle is to know when an enemy is simply too strong for you.”
SOUL: 6.0/10
“You failed the last trial. Which is an absolute shame, but to face your own largest fear must be hard. You also let my brother die, while the fuckwit is still alive in the real world, that is bad for the soul.”
SAMUEL
BODY: 7.0/10
“I was impressed by the challenger’s ability to quickly and safely make it up a steep cliff, especially since Jamie – despite being in better condition – was not able to keep up with him in that regard. Luhan managed to endure and push past his injuries when it mattered, I am however subtracting points for his inability to withstand the assault of a vampire despite having been given a similar boost in strength. 7 out of 10 points in total.”
MIND: 4.0/10
“There are a lot of things Luhan could have done differently. He tended to rush into situations without having a backup plan and sadly that came back to bite him, literally, in the form of Hyolyn and Jamie falling to his death prior to that incident. The challenger failed to keep a calm mind in these moments as well as when he was confronted with his own fear at the end, therefore I am giving him 4 out of 10 points in this category.”
SOUL: 8.5/10
“Luhan was willing to help each person he encountered without dismissing their fears or brushing over them, often leaping into danger himself without hesitation. Points are taken from him because he let one person die, but I’ve decided to weigh that incident against the way he dealt with Emma. Selfless and without even trying to convince her otherwise, he helped her to bury herself and recognized that it was what she needed most in that moment. An admirable move, ultimately earning the challenger 8.5 out of 10 points.
INGUK
BODY:8.4/10
The poor kid wasn’t even suspecting to be part of the trials, but did he absolute best. Thankfully, he had better clothing but even despite that, handled the weather and terrain well. He seems in good shape, and did very well rock climbing
MIND: 5.0/10
I hate to give such a low score, but there were many things he could have done better. With his armor that was greater than the other two champions, he should have used it to prepare himself for the climb, perhaps wrapping his hand around his hands to prevent the cut or wrapping it afterwards to cease bleeding more effectively. Not to mention, he should know well enough a vampire would go after the first smell of blood, that being his injured hand, and avoided it. He wouldn’t think ahead, instead going on impact and instinct. Poor little squishy let a lot of people get hurt.
SOUL: 4.2/10
His idea of being ethical makes me a tad sad (especially letting that first guy fall as he did), though I have a feeling it had something to do with him focusing on his own confusion of what needed to be done, as well as perhaps not being close to those who were kidnapped and brainwashed. Even still, it should have kicked in by the second person to SAVE these people as well as he could in the conditions rather than avoiding getting hurt himself, which, I hate to say, he didn’t even avoid that. Still, I won’t go any lower giving him the benefit of the doubt being startled into this situation.
TOTAL POINT COUNT: 98.4/160
SOOHYUN -- [ x ]
TRIAL COMPLETION POINTS: 40/40
TIME POINTS: 20
EMILIA
BODY: 8.2/10
“Another challenger that slept on the job. What is wrong with all of you? Anyhow, Soohyun did well with the hand to hand combat and fought in a very acceptable manner.”
MIND: 6.7/10
“Soohyun thought about things like using the few rags he had to use as a shield against the smoke, which was smart, but there were also points where he missed obvious chances. And who the fuck starts to discuss flowers in the middle of a burning building? I honestly stared at that scene in amazement. Anyhow, the cherry on the cake was when he apologized to a dead dog, who attacked him. And he kept discussing things with people that were about to die. I was waiting for him to discuss his groceries of last week. I guess he used his healing smoke well though, so there are some points for that one.”
SOUL: 7.0/10
“ A real tearjerker that ending. After everything that happened you were attacked by your worst fear and it was that? I would have expected a different fear from someone that showed these skills and this mentality. In the other trials compassion was shown at the wrong moments, he was kind when he should have made the right decisions. Sometimes being harsh or cruel is the kinder option in the end.”
SAMUEL
BODY:8.0/10
“To survive two and a half days in nothing but rags chips away at anyone’s stamina, particularly in such cold weather. Soohyun handled this well, along with most other physical challenges thrown at him along the way. He did not shy away from fighting despite being wounded and outnumbered by several soldiers and their dogs. Only the confrontation with his sister saw him weakened and while one can argue that fear and exhaustion played its part in that, I have to remain fair and take the other challengers into account as well – and given how some of them handled their last confrontation, Soohyun has earned himself 8 out of 10 points here.”
MIND: 7.0/10
“The challenger remembered to use his powers, just not always in the smartest way. When stuck in a burning house, my priorities would not lie with arguing while the building threatens to crash and bury me; so while Soohyun did well to remember Hyungwon’s botany knowledge in order to calm him down, it was not the right situation to do so. Similarly, he failed to recognize obvious signs of a scared and cornered animal when first encountering Taemin in hound form, which earned him an unnecessary bite wound. Bonus points are awarded for his use of the healing smoke throughout the trial and his quick reactions to fighting the soldiers, bringing us to 7 out of 10 points.”
SOUL:5.5/10
“Most people would try to fight back if another person came at them with a knife, but Soohyun chose a non-violent approach. This and his efforts to keep everyone out of unnecessary danger throughout the trial do not outweigh his ultimate motivations however. Each time the challenger saved someone, he did it because it was another step towards completing his trial and not an act of selfless compassion for his fellow teammates and their fears. While I do not doubt that he wanted them to be safe in the end, his main goal was to calm them and move on and that perspective is a selfish one, which I can only reward with 5.5 out of 10 points.”
INGUK
BODY: 7/10
He’s obviously practiced in hand-to-hand combat and did well in avoiding un-needed violence when his friend Ian had a knife and was obviously delusional. However, he should have been more cautious with the canines. He let his guard down when his friend Taemin turned into a hound and instead of having the strength to roll out from the jaws or using his legs (naturally stronger than arms) to kick the thing away, he watched it happen or simply attempted to squirm or push. It led to him getting seriously injured (I hope these things don’t last outside of the task, ya sick bastard. ..And I mean that in the best way possible, heh. ) Albiet, he seemed to do well enough dealing with pain and using the healing smoke to his advantage at proper times.
MIND: 7.7/10
This score is higher due to smart choices like using that healing smoke not just for healing properties but also as a fake 'illusion’ against Ian, sleeping in a tree which protected him from cold and passerby and, subconsciously, helped him in a later task, and also using the botany knowledge to calm Hyungwon down. However, I do think instead of talking his way out, he really should have brought the glittery winged kid out of the fire or at the very least gotten the burning buildings surroundings cleared or more safe before talking for so long to calm him and shit. I mean, they nearly burned alive and didn’t even realize it. Hell, I’m made of steam and smoke but I know that shit is harmful to squishies! At least he got fresh air, slept it off, and got much needed water afterwards. Certainly would have helped to get some food at some point.
SOUL: 9.1/10
I also brought this score up for the sake of choices like talking to Hyungwon to bring him down from hysterics instead of worrying solely about the burning building. Also convincing Ian it was all a dream rather than fighting him over i was a smart and ethical choice whereas i probably would have MADE the guy calm down with my fists at some point cause no-one points a blade at me. ..Ehem. Anywho, the guy had great intentions and truly seemed like nothing was more important, even over his own needs, that helping his friends. Even when the hounds were after him, he wouldn’t leave Taemin which takes some guts to go up against people on your own like that for the sake of a friend. Dude seemed like a downer but has a good heart. And I won’t admit I cried when he spoke to his decrepit rotting horrid smelling sassy sister but my eyes did condensate a little bit. Just a little.
