"Oh. I've returned." A quick glance around relaxed her shoulders. "And somehow, the familiar chaos of this place is a comfort to me."
@straysupe sent a message : “Speaking of the dead, a bat flew into my room last night.”
Rachel paused staring before her head tilted towards the side, yellow eyes narrowing in slight confusion. "What... does that mean?" Then she stiffened, eyes widening, her pupils pinpricking as a thought slammed into her mind causing a small whine to slip through throat. "Was it a vampire bat? A vampire? You need to tell me." She said, leaning forward, looming almost.

do you want to lie down for a bit? ~ Silver
⭐️
"That'd be nice." She spoke with a soft sigh, rubbing between her neck and shoulder. After a long day of smashing robots, laying down on a soft mattress sounded pleasant. But...It was a bit of an odd question coming from the other hedgehog. Ember lowered to hand and looked at Silver, raising an eyebrow.
"Why do you ask? Did you want to share a bed with me?" She asked in a teasing tone.
@meatriarch said: “ he’s a really bad man. ” | del vc ): like maybe falk mention in passing, when shes walking with river to the road... weighted words hinting that she knows what that mans about. and maybe more. tho she doesnt clarify further,
river makes a sound that’s not quite a laugh, and it makes his split lip sting. wonders if she even knows the half of it. wonders if, actually, she knows way more than him. her eyes, the way she said it — maybe she did. maybe she does — know something, like the trees know things.
he doesn’t really understand what she is. doesn’t understand where she came from. but she walks with him like she knows the way ahead. doesn’t say much, doesn’t move the air around her. flickered like dewdrop light through leaves. something not quite here, but not quite gone. river's never seen a ghost before, but harper has. and he believes harper. thinks he believes the stories about these trees now, too.
❝ … yeah, ❞ river finally says roughly, at a loss for anything else. drops his head, eyes scanning the underbrush they tread over. one stumbling step after the other. he’s exhausted, half-dazed. his lungs burn from running. river turns a wary glance over his shoulder — as though expecting the sheriff’s car to come rumbling, off-road, down the steep mountain path any minute now. he blinks slow in the fading daylight. ❝ — i know. know what he does. s'why i... ❞ trails off, goes quiet, too.
( “ what are you gonna do, riv? run? ” dad’s teeth were snarling and close. he smelled like if trees were rotting. and sharp, dirty copper. like he was covered in it. the rain-rot, the splitting bark. the dark red-brown. river’s eyes were on a chip in the hard wood wall behind him. )
river slows down, expression screwing together into something troubled. the girl — her name is delilah — seems to go very quiet. and a dizzying thought comes into focus, then — dad’s gonna come looking. gonna drag you back like always. gonna be in so much shit. while another voice in the back of his mind says; but if you say sorry — if you turn back now, maybe —
— maybe don't be stupid. don't be fucking stupid, man. this is the only shot you're gonna get.
river watches her for another moment. when he finally speaks again, he's plain, unblinking. ❝ ... he um. has this room, in the basement. all locked up. hurts people, down there. ❞ doesn’t think it, knows. spent days in the room. room lots of people spent days. their last ones, maybe. four locks on the door. one little basement window. heard it, sometimes. the knock, knock, knocking against the wall. one day, when he was thirteen or fourteen, he found a box of driver’s licenses in the crawlspace. now he looks at delilah, and he tries to remember the faces on the cards.
it makes him feel like he’s been pushed under icewater. makes his breathing hurt. the singular thought that she could have been someone he had helped scrub clean from the concrete floor washes him in a deep, sickening dread. like a feverish and familiar horror, like he wants to throw up. and river shoots a look up into her eyes, with that same bright fear. he doesn’t want to know the answer, he really fucking doesn’t. but he asks, anyway, breathing shaky;
❝ did he... did he hurt you, too? ❞
@thuganomxcs : don't look at me like i'm the only one lying. (male version of kagome here)
𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐖𝐀𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐊𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐀 𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊𝐒 𝐀𝐓 𝐇𝐈𝐌 is a look that shows nothing but him being suspicious of the other; tanned arms crossed over his chest as his dark brows furrow, leaning closer into poor Yusuke’s personal space. “Yeah? Then who else is lying? Me?” Clawed fingers move to the collar of Yusuke’s jacket, blue gaze narrowing more as he feels the fabric and pays attention to the way the others clothing looks, head tilting slightly. He ignores Ginta & Hakakku in the background and their protests, nose wrinkling softly, far too distracted by the other man's words.
𝐎𝐃𝐃𝐋𝐘 𝐄𝐍𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇, 𝐘𝐔𝐒𝐔𝐊𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐒 𝐇𝐈𝐌 𝐎𝐅 𝐊𝐀𝐆𝐎𝐌𝐄. It was just something about him—the way he talked? The dark hair and the green motif? The wolf was uncertain what it was exactly, but he was drawn to him regardless. Were humans from other eras just dropping out of the sky? It was strange enough when it was Kagome—but now this guy…Were there more? After a moment of thought, Kōga gives off an amused huff, letting go, but still remaining in Yusuke’s space, scanning his features for anything else suspicious, brow raising slightly.
“I’ll look at you however I want. Until you give me a good answer, I’m gonna assume you’re lyin’.”
EYES STUDY @phantomrot CAREFULLY, SHARP FEATURES PULLED TIGHT IN THE FIRELIT TRENCH. mishka knows all too well what lies under flesh, convincingly human, capable of doing the unexpected. his squadmates’ stares nail him to his place on his side as canines bite through stale borodino bread [ which is then unceremoniously washed down with water ━━━ greedily, wetting his beard & the dirt beneath his elbows ].
" if you control what people believe, you control the world. "
〝 pure democracy. 〞 the flatness of mishka’s voice is as if the life has been drained out of him, his skin crawling akin to maggots feasting on his visceral unease; nearly unfolding like a nightmare, though the mental scene is interrupted by the rather unappealing food spilling crumbs from his mouth with each breath.
〝 you would be better in office instead of playing soldier. 〞
“ I’m the talk of the academy even when I’m gone for a quick sec, ah? must be my charm and it’s all it is really. SHRUG. talk about ‘dating’ and stuff. not my vibe, but I DO like to make ladies feel good is all 👍 stay beautiful. ”
“ ew , i don’t want to be here again . ew . “
