VINCE   flashes   her   one   of   his   trademark   grins   ,   about   to   turn   his   attention   toward   the   voice   and   scold   the   audacity   of   a   complete   and   total   stranger   for   offending   the   poor   artist   ,   but   his   abrupt   comeback   is   cut   short   at   the   sight   that   greets   him   .   His   eyes   flit   back   and   forth   between   the   woman   beside   him   and   the   photograph   on   the   poster   ,   quickly   realising   they   are   one   and   the   same   .   ❝   I   was   gonna   tell   ya   to   pipe   down   with   the   disrespect   but   I   guess   you   know   y'voice   better   than   anyone   else   'round   here   .   I'd   watch   it   though   ——   an   artist   is   never   the   best   at   judgin'   their   own   talent   ,   ❞   he   chuckles   ,   alluding   to   the   fact   that   he   experiences   the   very   same   suspicions   about   his   own   vocal   ability   .

      Only lately was this a regular occurrence. Lucy falling asleep with her head on his lap, or her head against his chest, or even his shoulder, was common these days and not once had he ever told her to move away. Having her so close to him all of the time while their school lives were s o much more hectic than they ever had been before; they rarely got to spend too long together and it was always depressing for them both. Being that they only really had each other to share in the things that they couldn’t share in with their friends, it was strressful spending so many hours with your head in books and exam papers and at the end of it all, only get about half an hour together at the end of each day. They always met up at the treehouse providing the gang weren’t up there themselves on given days and they talked as long as they could——but lately, Lucy had been all kinds of tired, more so than himself, and he wondered if something worse was going on at home.

      Gently, he brushed his fingers through her loose hair, combing it behind her ear as she slept soundly, peacefully, gripping the ends of his shirt as she was lost to sleep. Chris smiled down at her, thankful that he had someone other than the guys who he could devote all of his energy to & never be without; someone who loved him, someone that he loved in return.

  ‘ I don’t know what you’re talkin’ about, ‘ he states, bold in both his words and expression as he turns to face the woman sitting beside him, vaguely aware of her distress because he has been so preoccupied in the studio over the last few weeks and probably spent a lot of his time missing cues toward her obvious slight depression. He knew why too, but didn’t have the balls to confess that he knew exactly what had happened with her last job interview. George knew - he had been the one to hide the slip she had received in the post almost a week ago and she had been wondering, pacing back and forth for days now about why no one had gotten a hold of her over landing the job. He knew that it was wrong to keep it from her, but her fretting was starting to irritate him and then eventually it just turned into pure guilt over what he had done.. to the point where he was thinking hard about it now and reprimanding himself for doing it, but still, somehow, he felt it was important that he be the provider in their relationship.

           ‘  you can’t do that to me and you know you can’t,  ‘ he is so sure of himself that he barely glimpses any reaction she might offer in response to his immediate retort . he was dead certain that she would be pining.. so much so, by the end of the evening, that her words right now, mattered very little and held no real truth . all of her bitterness over the pair of them spending the night at her parents house was getting to him, too, but he didn’t let on to that nearly half as much as she did . the temper in her was building by the second, so much that it could, if challenged, rival that of her fathers, or perhaps even her mother because harley was known for outbursts && wild chases of redeeming pride as much as the next person . this wasn’t the first time they had stayed overnight but it was the first time either of them had released any kind of verbal onslaught in retaliation to unhappiness with the situation presented . perhaps he could make it worth her while, though ?? maybe give her a little something in the middle of the night when everyone else was fast asleep, providing she could be quiet enough .

        ‘  emergency garbage,  ‘ he answered, that knowing look falling upon his face as he turned to her. To him, it was absolutely necessary that he could pull such a lever whenever uninvited guests decided to torment - most of whom spent hours at a time on the other side of his door, tossing snowballs and,when he did not react, heavy objects that could have caused some damage had he actually stepped out to confront them.

Anxiously Jaysol swished his tail on the deck of the ship and gazed at the pirate captain with a fear that he could not contain. Pirates had tormented him since his first capture when he was younger and none had ever shown him compassion or mercy. They wanted the riches that only merfolk could get and with his tail wounded, Jaysol wasn't sure he'd be any use to this pirate. Sniffing, Jaysol asked in a firm voice, 'I’m curious. After killing me, what is it you’re planning on doing next?'

        ‘ I don’t plan on killin’ ya, but y’might be of some help to me, ‘ he answered, honestly, because there was no point no in trying to lie his way into finding the place he sought most in the world. There was no telling if he even knew himself where this location was, but the Captain could only assume that a mer-creature would, for every trail of theirs took them even further than the ends of the earth; further than he was used to travelling, which he found himself envious of. Jack spun on his heel for a moment, reaching for the splintered map that rested on his belt at all times, and he took a good long look, still unable to figure it all out. It was a trait of his anyway, that the struggle of reaching any kind of answer when it seemed to be more of a puzzle, took a lot longer than he liked— in fact, he often took weeks at a time trying to decipher half the treasures he found on his travels. But this one, it called to him .. and he desired it so much, he almost became an entirely different person in the search for it. Still - there was not a bone in his body that could or would slaughter anyone who had not wronged him, or attempted to strike him first. ‘ I know these waters far better than the land I have legs for, but I’m lost. I’m lookin’ for a place.. somewhere off the map, n’ I think y’can help me find it. ‘

“ —whichever twisted pyshco dons the ghostface mask, probably, or maybe even Voorhees, ” he thought about it well before he answered and that’s the best he could come up with, cause really, he didn’t put much thought into those things anyway. He had killed before—of course he had, the memory of David came fleeting back then, but it was gone just as quickly as it had entered and he heaved a tired sigh. “ What about you, Nic?? ” he asks her, vaguely intrigued by her response.
