Hawks absently watched the people milling about below him, legs dangling from the windowsill he was perched on. His gaze unconsciously followed a mother and her child, before drifting off towards a young couple.
There was a painful pang in his chest, but he didn't let it show, instead turning his gaze towards the person he'd just been talking to with a smile.
"Sorry, what was that? I got distracted by something."

cirquedenightmares "Oh Lil Dove..." Ash felt for Hawks, his heart going out to the hero. At the question, he froze before giving him a soft smile. For now, it was best to keep him safe and he nodded. "Kinda. How are ye feelin' today?" The serval came over with a tray of food and set it down before he looked over Hawks.
'Kinda' was better than 'no' and with that soft smile aimed his way as well, it helped to make the blonde relax, at least a little, at least for now.
"I'm...better. I think." He offered the serval a small smile, one hand unconsciously moving upwards to gently touch the bandages wrapped around his head. "At least my head doesn't hurt. ...Hey, um...I'm sorry, but I...I don't..." He hesitated. "...Your name. Can you tell me? ...And...and mine...?"
"...Yep. I think I'd make a pretty good camboy."

“I think he’s real neat! And the number one for a reason - I’m still trying to convince him of that, though, not sure if he really believes it yet. But he’s getting there! He’s strong and his determination is really something to admire, too. And though he looks super grumpy most of the time, he’s kind in his own way, and takes this job more seriously than anyone I else I know. ...It wouldn’t hurt for him to smile a lil’ bit more, though~”

“...I’m sorry,” he mumbles, lowering his head, small hands curled into his shirt. It’s just as dirty and wet as he is, hair and feathers dripping water from when he fell into the river mere minutes ago.
