Hi! You talk to a lot of natives, where or how do you get to know them? i'm learning icelandic too atm but i'm pretty much at the beginning though it would be pretty cool to already start talking to People. do you have any tips?
Find the First Born Icelander™ and convince him into giving you the Map of Eyjafjallajökull. Careful, this will mean that you have to actually say Eyjafjallajökull correctly (doing the opposite will result in the death of everyone who has a name of Eydís, Jökull, and/or Timothy). Once you get this map, and you journey into the center of the volcano, you will encounter this troll named “Hvad” and with him you will have to speak perfect Danish. When you have a short conversation about the pronounciation of coffee, along with how important t is if a Dane dies downtown (I just watched the Denmark clip from Jón Gnarr´s ég var einu sinni nörd sorry). After this, if you give all the right answers, he’ll give you a second map and a boat. When you follow this map completely, you turn left, and there’s an island full of Icelanders waiting to talk with you
no but actually, i have no idea how to answer this ask because i dont know. here’s my timeline of meeting natives:
through friends/things that aren’t my control really
old friend tells me about their crush and another person in their school. i find both of their tumblrs. when i stopped being friends with the friend, i talked to them. whoopsies
riley messages native for me, i think? did this ever actually happen? my memory is shit
meets old friend’s family (i now am pals with not one but two icelandic moms #bless up)
i think i’ve only messaged one of my friends first and had it end in an actual communication
looked in that speak your language day thing
i notice they reblog one of my posts in icelandic/other language, then proceed to ask whether they’re a native
i mean obviously it is i am a gift
some thought i was one of them when sending ask, some once thought i was (aka my #i’m in tag)
i have no fucking idea how they find me
